Ask Helter Skeletons Limited
We started this thread to inform spearfishermen of the possibilities they have in mounting their trophy fish in new ways. We also wanted to inform you all of our new merger with "Deep Down Dive Apparel" on our clothing line for 2009. Please feel free to ask questions about any of our products or give us some ideas of what you would like to see in the future. Check us out and "See What's Inside"

Re: Ask Helter Skeletons Limited
granted its too late now....
but grant can you give me an idea of what it would cost to clean, prep and mount the HEAD of a ~30# cubera snapper, total length was 40"? thought of doing with my KLO fish...but didn't. doesn't have to be exact..$200, $300, $500, $1000?? i know where there's another big one....so i'm researching options

Re: Ask Helter Skeletons Limited
Due to the fact that the majority of the work of skeletonization is in the head we charge 66% of the total length of the fish for a head mount. Taxidermists also charge in a similar way for the same reasons.

Also what are some tips of things we can do to the fish to have it in the best condition possible prior to mounting it?? |

Re: Ask Helter Skeletons Limited
If you take the filets, make sure you don't cut out any ribs or bone fragments if possible. Freeze it solid and you can ship it to us frozen in a cooler sealed in zip lock and packed with newpaper.

Re: Ask Helter Skeletons Limited
also, the turn around time is usually 4 to 6 months, but we usually have them out faster than that depending on what time of year it is.
