I think that to keep you and my brother safe, we can never dive together on the same boat ever.

We ran 70 miles NW of Clearwater on Sunday. In 90 ft the visibility was only 12ft. but shootable. Likely would have been better had we not been buried in dense fog.

I believe I ran into that hammerhead once or twice out here.

As reported by others the vis was right on the cusp of shootable out in 60' NW of Anclote. It was a bit spooky but luckily the murk prevented us from seeing any sharks. Some big sherpas have come in shallower in numbers.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Son of a . . . . . . TODAY was the day to get out diving. Me and the Admiral went out on her boat today fishing, and the water was clear as crystal, water temps were around 71 in 10 feet (so probably 67-68 in 30-40 feet). Perfect conditions on top. I was pissed I wasn't able to dive - due to the fact that I was at work at 0630 and was able to skip out by 0730 due to a scheduling mixup. Should have called some buddies and thrown together a trip out to our dive spots - would have probably loaded up on fish!

Dove today in 57 foot of water out of Clearwater pass. Visibility was 20 foot vertical and15 foot horizontally. Temperature was 62. Shot a couple of hogfish. Had some buddies Out past 80 feet. They got their limit on hog fish and some slipper lobster. Water is chilly and bottom is easily stirred up. Lots of small fish.
Tripletail noted on crab traps on surface.

Good on you! Wish I could have been out today - just started 3 months of IR training at a new hospital and it has my poor old brain scrambled 5 ways to Sunday. I need some saltwater therapy. Hoping to get out with my Finn buddy end of February - he'll be loving 60 degree water (like bathwater to a Finn) while I'll be freezing my butt off.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

We did 2 dives yesterday in 70-75 feet out of JP. Viz was probably up to maybe 20 feet. Horizontal was better. Silted up real easy though. First dive was real fishy. Lots of hogs and a variety of snappers. Good hook and line there too after the dive. No big hogs but a bunch that were 16 inch. Second dive had similar conditions but an ornery goliath was in charge. Not real fishy and I suspect the goliath had something to do with that. Got a couple more hogs on some rocks off the ledge and that's it. Nice day on the water.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Dropped off tanks today at the same time as some other spearos. They had been out early today and said the conditions were great. They were 14 miles off Tarpon, in 35 feet, had great viz, and said it was VERY fishy - they limited on hogs and big sherpa. They said they were in 3 mil suits and didn't really pay attention to what the water temp readings were. I was jeally

Friend of mine dove yesterday. Was in 78 feet. Said water temperature was 63. Seas were calm and the visibility was 12 to 15 feet. They got some hogfish. Some nice size mangos. Lots of lion fish. Cold he said. Cloud cover all day. Productive fish wise though. Saw some Aj's and ARS.

Friday Feb 8th. 8 1/2 miles East of Bean Point(A.M.I.) in 45' viz was 20+. Red Tide appears to have taken it's toll only small Mangrove, hogfish, gag, and red grouper. Took sheepshead and grunt instead. Big sheep were all closer in biggest in 15 fsw.
