"Offshore Platforms" in Port Richey?
Headed out to do some boating at our new-to-us house in Port Richey and were surprised to see a bunch of houses on sticks in the Gulf!
I checked the Navionics chart and it says "Offshore Platform"....what does that mean? Are these for rent? Do people live here? Is it just for day use? What's the deal? |

Re: "Offshore Platforms" in Port Richey?
They are the (in)famous "stilt houses" of New Port Richey. They are owned by private individuals, and have no utilities. I don't believe you can rent them (though I'm sure it has been done "under the table" in the past. No one lives there full time.
Neat article about them here: https://www.naturecoaster.com/pascos...-their-future/ |

Re: "Offshore Platforms" in Port Richey?
My Father and Godfather built one back in 1959 the year before I was born. I spent many a weekend out there as a kid. This is where I learned to dive, fish, spearfish and scallop. In the early 70's my dad sold the place and three months later a hurricane knocked it down. Good timing but sad to see it go.
