Help stop the closures

I had a request from Vic Lloyd to e mail the Sec.of Commerce concerning the closures of our fishing stock. Maybe some of you can respond.

Honorable Secretary Locke
TheSec@doc.gov <TheSec@doc.gov>

Without a doubt, the NMFC was created to ensure that enough fishery stock was protected for continued Commercial and Recreational fishing for the above species.
And, without a doubt, the methods for determining the stock, have been by conjecture rather than the proven methods. Closing the fisheries amounts to closing the factories where citizens are employed.
All of us are affected by closures, fishermen, restaurants, tackle shops. manufactures of fishing related goods, bait shops, charter boats,father/son trips, etc. Fishing is a way of life for many of us.

What should we do?
Take an average of the yearly commercial catch for the last 5 years.
(We know this was sustainable- It was a fact.)
Set the quota at that plus at least 10%, realizing that we didn't catch them all.
Considering the Commercial catch would amount to thousands of pounds, set the Recreational catch at fifty pounds total of all fish per licenced fisherman.

Please realize, sir, there is no way you can tell me how many marbles are in that gallon jar without seeing and counting. Or, maybe we could be in the NMFC and guess.

Respectfully submitted
