Anyone have a newer World Cat 23cc in the area?

Looking to do a ride-along (gas money to be provided by me) so as to really get a good idea of how it performs in our conditions, without a salesman trying to pitch me the whole time.

Yup, I'm seriously considering selling the Pickled Pelican and my wife's boat and moving up to a catamaran.

I would recommend going on a 26’ Twin Vee.

I hope the 23 rides better than the 27. I have honestly never been on a worst riding hull in a quartering Gulf chop. I seriously don’t think it will be an upgrade from your current ride. Small cats are also very sensitive to overloading. With you being a diver that is something to consider.

That is what I've heard too. Dive gear equals too much weight, which equals tunnel slap and pounding. I have no personal experience.

Eric, I might be interested in your wife's boat.

Re: Anyone have a newer World Cat 23cc in the area?

I've read some very good reviews of the new 23 hull, including from some local people who dive as well. The smaller hull also seems to be a better choice for my inshore needs as well, and the lighter weight means no need to change my current tow vehicle.

James, I'll keep that in mind - I think I'm going to have more of a time selling the Cobia than the Key West, which seems to be very much in demand due to its size, name, and price. Going to have to sell the Pelican first before I can sell the wife's boat.

I’m with you on that.
I have been going offshore on a 2005 WC 27 TE for many years.
In a quartering sea you Might consider wearing seat belts.
It’s thirsty and bow heavy because it’s seriously overbuilt.

In this economy I don't think you'll have any trouble. Get her detailed and price her right, which will probably be on the high side since there has been a big jump in demand for used boats. I was shocked I got exactly what I was asking for a week after listing, over Christmas week no less.

Hey Eric,

Call me, I can get you a ride on a 25' WC and maybe get a dive in as well.

Butch

I use to have a baha king cat 30 foot, it was the best riding boat i've ever owned. 5 foot waves like riding 1-2 on other boats.

I agree , but go out on a Pro Kat or Kevla Kat and you will never look back.
My buddy just bought a 28.8 Pro Kat with twin suzuki 250 ,s 2007 ,
second best riding kat Ive been on .4 Divers 16 tanks no problem.

Ps I have been on a lot of Kats , definitely my next boat.

Spent a lot of time on a 21 Kevlacat and did well lightly loaded but was misery with a dive load. The 28 is a monster but you better not have to trailer it much and will require a wide load permit.

Re: Anyone have a newer World Cat 23cc in the area?

I was considering a ProKat before I started the Bertram project. You definitely get a lot of boat for the money. But I still had my reservation about it handling a full weekend grounds trip or Tortugas trip comfortably with a full load. I figured 4 divers, 24 tanks, full of fuel, a couple hundred pounds of ice and fish and fresh water. I just wasn't confident it could avoid the tunnel slap, despite being a plaining hull.
