All About Pole Spears & Slings What is it about that traditional method of the early hunter/gatherers under the water? These devices are indeed interesting and effective. |

shitty pole with splinters. Fixes?
Hey SB, so I got my first pole spear as a gift. unfortunately, it is pretty crappy and I end up getting fiberglass splinters in my gloves and hands, what can I do to help fix this? (besides buying a new pole, which I probably will do)

Epoxy it. Then you will have to come up with some sort of grip. Use the search function on making different grips for pole spears.

Sheath it in heat shrink tubing with adhesive on the inside of the tube?

Epoxy it. Then wrap some adhesive grip tape to it.

Re: shitty pole with splinters. Fixes?
Sorry I forgot sand it before you epoxy it. I would possibly use rod building resin since it can flex. As for the grip you can wrap some kind of twine and put resin over that. Use the low build rod builders resin. Have not dont it for a pole spear before but I changed the color on one of my rods and did that process and turned out great.

3m electrical commercial grade tape works fine, get sum copper wire and wrap it in a spiral underneath the tape, its what i do to most of my pole spears
