Hungry bluefin tuna hunting pics.

Just got back a HDdvc tape I lost/ forgot in Oct 2009 during a boat trip in the North Atlantic!
Only about ten min UW vid taken at the end of a herring quarry made by a tuna pack. Pics taken from the vid showing a nice monster : an over 1000lb fish (about 12 feet long).
Sea was rough there (got seasick) and visi much better than usually in the green water at about 120miles off the coast. Hungry tuna hunting in the Gulf Stream...

Re: Hungry bluefin tuna hunting pics.

Wow those are some nice fish! I saw something similar to that in Salala (Oman) where huge Yellowfin tunas were feeding. They would hang right under huge schools of dolphins (hundreds maybe even thousands of dolphins) that were feeding on baitfish. I must admit I thought about a million times how it would be to go in with a speargun and spear one of those monsters. But visibility was very poor so not sure how successful that would be. For sure if you are baiting them they should come up within visibility range. However there were also many large sharks in the big feeding frenzy, and not sure how comfortable I would be with the poor visibility. After seeing those pix I just might get the courage to go in with at least a camera.

Great pictures thanks for sharing!... As for that mako.... not sure if it is the angle or perception of the picture but it looks absurdly large

Great pictures! I'm glad you didn't shot it. I can't hunt tuna, I just have a weird connection to them. They are so majestic.
