Re: Pimp my yak!
Where do you guys store your yaks? I gotta find a way to keep it out of the sun, I don't want to have to replace it anytime soon.

Re: Pimp my yak!
Thanks for the comments, I am thinking of adding little yellowfin tunas and little squids on the bottom perhaps that will bring in wsb under the boat

Re: Pimp my yak!
I think storing the kayaks upside down is supposed to be bad for it. From this article:
http://www.sit-on-topkayaking.com/Ar...n/Storage.html "Do not store plastic kayaks upside down; the hull will warp shaping the kayak into a banana." The article goes on to list several alternative methods. |

Re: Pimp my yak!
Good thing I saw this thread about not hanging the yak by the ends. I have had my kayak hanging by the handles on the front and back off and on for 2 months...Now I know why it's getting harder to paddle...F#$k!!! It looks like it bent quite a bit too. Now I'll have to hang it by the scupper holes and add some weight to the ends.

Re: Pimp my yak!
An update on my deformed kayak...Before I read this thread I was hanging my kayak by the handles and it appeared/seemed to be losing its form(looking like a banana). I hung it upright by the scupper holes and put weights in the nose and tail, left it for week. Before I did this my Wong Ono gun wouldn't fit inside the front hatch....not even close. Now that it is closer to the factory shape, my Ono gun fits no problem and it seems paddle better(like when I bought it brand new). Moral of the story.....Hanging kayaks by the handles on front and back is definetly not a good idea.

Re: Pimp my yak!
Here is mine. I have not done anything too fancy to it. I put a eagle sonar unit on it and a few rod holders (that I never use). The sonar was a great addition. It makes finding reefs, pinnacles, and ledges a snap. Normally I store my gun in the center hatch, but my 65" gun does not fit. My 55" and 120cm guns fit in the center hatch just fine. This boat works great. I have used it in everything from 10 foot plus swells near my home in norcal to the glassy waters of baja's east cape.

Re: Pimp my yak!
Hello all:
Can you guys please show more pictures of your yak. I would like to see what batteries you use and how they fit in the yaks. Also, where you store the anchor and line. Thanks |

Re: Pimp my yak!
Seahunter, what do you do for batteries? I have the same fishfinder. I get two 6v lantern batteries, tape them together and connect the wires to the springs and then put it in tupperware and tape it up...sometimes it works really good, other times not so good.

Re: Pimp my yak!
aquahunter, how do you like the x-factor? im looking at getting one and was wondering how well it handles and if it is relatively quick on the water. I have to opportunity to get one brand new, with a seat, paddle, and 2 rod holders installed for only $350. I just want to make sure its decent for fishing and diving. thanks.
