Protect wetsuit on shore entry/exit from barnacles

I always keep my sandals and a foam knee pad on my float line. These items are especially helpful for shore entry and exits on barnacle covered rocks. I sit on the foam pad while putting my fins on. You can find the foam knee pads at your local garden store or department. The one I have has a hard rubber surface that holds up well on rocks and barnacles.

Re: Protect wetsuit on shore entry/exit from barnacles

Totally awesome idea...Thank you for the tips!!!

I'm still trying to figure out all the tricks of west coast diving and must say that sitting on sharp rocks and barnacles while getting jostled by waves as I try to put my fins on is a delicate dance of futility.

I also love the sandal idea as most of my entries have a long path of jagged and rough rocks.

Can't wait to try it out on next dive.

Thanks again!

I like it, I have a rock entry at our place in Mexico. Great idea.

Re: Protect wetsuit on shore entry/exit from barnacles

Good ideas!
Both my yak and the rocks at Barview were having no mercy on the rear of my suit, then I came across some 1/16 nylon 2 shorts at Goodwill, some work out things I suppose, and they work wonderfully. And I use water socks over my size 14's to cross the jetty, and tuck them in my weight vest if not sure where I will exit.
Thanks for your post, it will get folks thinking of things that will work for them. One bad move in this part of the world can do serious harm to one's suit
