Re: U.S. Fresh Water Nationals June 9th Lake Powell

Any more info out there on this event, Times? Location (meetings, weigh in)? Rules? (i tought the 50 fish max last year was mint). Is there a limit on the # of teams? Who else is planning on attending? Sorry for all the questions, I'm trying to get a plan together.
Thanks, Nate

Everything will be the same as last year. I do believe we are raising the fish limit to 65. 4 guys had 47 or more fish. Let's see if somebody can hit the 65 fish mark.

Re: U.S. Fresh Water Nationals June 9th Lake Powell

Isn't the point of having a limit to get better quality fish in not more of them?? If only 4 out of 30 (not sure on the exact number of guys) were at 47 -50 fish shouldn't the limit be lowered not raised. I thought the Idea of the limit was to get people to target other fish (stripers). I'm cool with it either way Im just not sure what purpose any limit has if its not one that 1/2-1/4 of the competitors reach. If the limit was 40 last year the results would have been different, but the competitors with the biggest fish and the most stripers would have won.

Sorry if I sound like i am bitching, i'm just giving my opinion. My standings would not have changed at all. I think the RMSA does a fantastic job with these events and I am proud to be a member.

I'm looking forward to this tournement, last year was a blast.

Quantity is the game with freshwater. Actually, quantity is the game with all high level meets. But since we're dealing primarily with invasive trash fish, more is better. Even if you set a 40 fish limit, everyone would still shoot as much as possible, and then you get into seperating the bigger fish at the weigh in, which take MUCHO time. 65 sounds good to me.

I must agree with him. After I looked at the list of divers, oh boy!, Dennis and Mike have to watch out! More than 10 of us are not considered as an underdog!!!

Would be very interesting to see who is the true Dawg!! Also, I sensed the sweet revenge coming from the Hawaiian teams!! Cannot wait!!
