Re: Baja this Spring??

It's below Mulege, then Loreto and below La Paz. You'd fly into La Paz and rent a car. Only an hour or so below La Paz. Not worth driving that far down. Fly out of TJ on Aero Calafia; it's about $215 round trip.

I am not there this May, However my wife is. We live year round in Baja, but I needed to come to Denver to work. I seen your phone number and looks like you live in Colorado?

We are maybe 6-7 hrs from Mulege. 1 1/2 from La paz airport south and 1 hr from San Jose Del Cabo north.
You can spear Wahoo,Dorado and tuna. Bill fish are year round. We dont have a marina so the charter boats anchor in the bay, maybe 100-150 yards off shore. You can swim out to the boats that dont go out that day and often find Hoo's and Dorado hold up under the boats..

Re: Baja this Spring??

I am in GJ and make it down to Mulege for spring fishing.
We don't get many YF, or Wahoo but most everything else
Even got a permit last year and saw a 100 lb Rooster.
What do you do in Denver?

I work in the mining/recycle industry. Before we left I ran various yards but this time took seasonal job running equipment. It is great far less stress!
I had 2 roosters the size of me swim right past me, about 3 months ago. Had a 100cm gun with no reel. Thought about taking the easy shot but thought better of it. Those fish would have taken everything. But it was cool.

Where would you recommend for shore/reef diving?
Any pangeros or outfitters you might recommend for the Sea of Cortez side?
Looks like I'm in the same boat as you. I'll be in San Jose del Cabo the 16th-20th. Looking to do some shore reef diving with a possible day trip to deep water. i've been on a couple sprearfishing trips but not a pro by any means. Looking for a diving partner too. Will you be in this area as well?

Re: Baja this Spring??

ust g ot back from Gonzaga Bay. Ended up at Camp Beluga beautiful place right on the beach have flushable toilets and semi lukewarm showers hey better than nothing right. The win was back and forth all weekend visibility was so-so but the hunting was still good. Brought back about 35 pounds of grouper also got to see my first golden grouper never seen one before so I decided to just sit and watch him magnificent fish. right at dusk in the back side of one of the coves we ran into what I believe we're juvenile manta rays doing back flips out of the water was an amazing sight and terrifying at the same time one almost landed in my 8-foot zodiac. I'll try and post video later. was a great trip can't wait to do it again
