Haulover inlet
Is there a legal way to spearfish haulover inlet? Like on the inside. Anywhere to get in from land?

Re: Haulover inlet
Contact the FWC, city, county, and city police department to be sure. There can always be local regulations, plus the law always change. So if you are not sure, always call. Its free and doesn't hurt anybody.
http://myfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/r...onal/spearing/ Otherwise, The three regulations here you want to care about is the following, Within 100 yards of a public swimming beach, any commercial or public fishing pier, or any part of a bridge from which public fishing is allowed. The bridge looks to prohibit public fishing (rod and reel fishing, not spearfishing). This means you are good. Double check for no fishing signs first. Within 100 feet of any part of a jetty that is above the surface of the sea - except for the last 500 yards of a jetty that extends more than 1,500 yards from the shoreline. If you were planning to spearfish the jetty, thats a no. You might be able to spearfish the bridge In any body of water under the jurisdiction of the Environmental Protection, Recreation and Parks. (Possession of spearfishing equipment is prohibited in these areas, unless it is unloaded and properly stored.) There is a park to the north of the bridge. Call them and verify where their jurisdiction ends. If it covers the inlet, then no. Those are the general major regulations that cover everywhere in the state of Florida. The only regulations left are city, county, and any other local specific laws. Again, call your county, city, or police department to verify any other laws that you may not know about. Sometimes you may talk to a anti hunter or other person who dislikes spearfishing and may blatantly say that its illegal with no explanation. When anyone says its illegal, pressure for more information such as what exact law prohibits spearfishing, aka the statue. Other then people like these everyone else will be glad to help you. |

Re: Haulover inlet
Ok thanks. I knew about the jetty just unclear about the bridge. It's legal to fish out to it from land but I guess that doesn't really count or you couldn't spear any bridge. I don't like to make any waves with the people that get touchy about spearfishing.

Re: Haulover inlet
Im going to tell you now that unless you know the tides in that inlet, it is not worth your life. The traffic in and out of there is heavy and dangerous, with lots of inexperienced boaters and Jetskis. The tide rips through there as well.
I ran out of haulover for several years when i lived down there and wouldnt ever bother getting in the water under the bridge, especially from land.
