72" Carbon Fiber, Water Ballasted Custom Tuna Gun - $650

I finally got a boat, so I'm taking off for a few years.

Selling all the gear I can't fit on the boat. I've taken big tuna, amberjack, and wahoo at extreme distances with this gun.

Specs:
  • 72" total length
  • 2 X Carbon fiber, water-ballast tubes (side)
  • 1 X aluminum water ballast tube (under barrel)
  • 6 bands, they can be simply removed for travel
  • Neptonics Tuna mech
  • Delrin enclosed track - takes 3/8 shaft (72")
  • AR-15 handle system
  • Very well balanced, minimal recoil, much lighter than my Merlo

NOTE:
  • No shaft or slip-tip
  • Rubbers are fine, but will need to be replaced before long
  • Dents/dings
  • One puncture in the carbon tubing (noted in picture)

I use my guns, don't baby them. But I do wash them after every use and keep them functional.

Buyer pays shipping (from 78704), but I'll eat the cost of the PVC to ship it to you so it doesn't get damaged.

NOT a perfect specimen. If you want one of those, pay $2K for a Sea Sniper.

I'll be selling a ton of gear over the next couple of months, check back.

First "I'll take it" gets it. Paypal preferred, donation or you pay additional 3%. Totally cool either way.

Cheers, much appreciated! It's been a pretty wild ride, and it's only the beginning.

Re: 72" Carbon Fiber, Water Ballasted Custom Tuna Gun - $650

Tons of questions via PM, so I'll post the answers here.

Gouge in carbon tube: affects nothing. The point of a water ballasted tube is to fill with water when you're in the water and dump the water when you put it on the surface. This means you get the effect of ballast (less recoil), without the weight topside.

Number of ballast tubes: Three. two on the sides (carbon), one on the bottom (aluminum), extending from just in front of the handle to the muzzle. The aluminum ballast tube has a small weight in it, midway down that helps balance the gun underwater. You can remove or add to it - depending upon personal preference.

Handle: it's the AR-15 kit. I prefer this one, but some of the guys like other AR-15 handles. You can switch it out with a screw or two.

Weight: 13.5 pounds (read that again). It's super light. But the recoil is comparable to my Merlo - which is much, much heavier. Makes it very easy to travel with (more on this below). To put it into perspective, my 63" gun (just sold, but in the pics) was only two pounds less.

Does it break down: Yes, to some extent. When you remove the handle, and the bands (is done very quickly, under the muzzle) - it's just a light, long tube. Putting the handle and bands back on is a 5 minute operation.

Range: Long. Very long. Or very close, with the ability to punch through big fish. We hunt big wahoo and tuna in the Gulf. Sometimes we can get close - sometimes not. But with this gun you can reach out and touch them, should you need to.

Recoil: Minimal. You still need to treat it like a tuna gun, and shoot it with your off-hand bracing against the butt - as any gun can break your face if you don't (ask Sheri Daye). But it's comparable to my Merlo, maybe a tiny bit more - but I haven't noticed.

Hope that helps...
