[quote=Paul Benson;1910766]Has anyone tried these gun mounts?
Paul, I bought one and I love it! It is very similar to MAKO'S mount, which is also great. I found I can use the mount on Wong hybrids and Riffe guns with rounded stocks. It does require some modifications to work on all of them. Les

Re: Mask vs Gun Mount
Re which mount is best, I 'll throw my hood in with Jfjf.
You will want more than one application. If one is in very clear water, the head mount works great with some disciple of head movements. For lower vis conditions, it really helps to have the camera extended out such as on the gun. When reviewing your video, the difference is dramatic. There is a quality made aluminum wand made by SeaLife. It extends out to about 6 feet and sells for $70.

Re: Mask vs Gun Mount
I've used it both ways and I like the gun mount better. I use the mako mount and put it on the front. Like others have mentioned, it's kinda dictated by the situation. I usually dive alone or with a buddy in the same kelp bed so I'm not worried about having to film them and the front mounted camera gets me much better/stabler shots.

Re: Mask vs Gun Mount
i use a gun mount made by another spearo its simple easy to make and would only cost a few dollars, it clamps onto the barrel anywhere. it can be taken off in 1 second to film mates and put back on just as quick. i used it on my last diving trip for a month and really liked it but i think i like the head mount more .. just need to slow myself down more

Re: Mask vs Gun Mount
I googled gopro scuba mask and you can find aftermarket ones that work great. It cost me about $80 with shipping. Can't say a bad thing about it

Re: Mask vs Gun Mount
If you guys want to see something we came up with for a gun mount, let me know and I will post some pics of a gun mount we made to lower the camera to the "shaft" line. The mod is for an Ocean Rhino gun as that is what we all shoot around here.
