Puerto Rico Feb 2019
Hi,
Going for the family vacation to Puerto Rico Feb 12-21, 2019. Will stay around Aguadilla (west shore). I have 7+ years of spearfishing experience (US, East Coast) up to 65 ft. deep. Looking for diving buddy for reef and blue water diving. Any advice/hints will be appreciated too. Looking forward to meet new people and spend a good time! |

I stayed in Rincon an I wish I saw your comment before the trip Marco, I contacted Roberto Reyes, but it was too late - they were booked, and they are out of San Juan - pretty far from Rincon any way. Unfortunately I don't have any good news - shore diving in PR sucks I spent over 20 hours diving in about 6 locations from Aquadilla to La Parguera with pretty much zero success. Fish over 10" legnth extremely rare in these waters. In 20 hours I saw 2 mackerels, 2 good size snappers and 2 porgys, all except porgy disappeared before I even moved I did my best checking most of the spots mentioned on this forum: 1. Crash Boat Beach 2. Sandy Beach 3. Corcega 4. Punta Arenas 5. Playuela, Cabo Rojo I went pretty far looking for deeper reefs, but there are not so many structures underwater. Even in coral areas bottom very flat in many cases. 50-60 ft visibility and no fish - so disappointed. Finally I find out, that I can rent a small boat ($25 / hour) in La Parguera and discover surrounding islands. That seemed like perfect solution. Unfortunately no fish seen. Maybe this area requires special experience/tactic, maybe it was not the best part of the season, maybe i was just unlucky. For anyone who going, I would suggest to connect with locals with bigger boat and go spots. Don't waste your time for shore diving discovery. We had a good time with family, regardless. |

Agador...hello. Reguarding the boat rental. Any pics? They have different sizes available? Contact info of the vendor if you don't mind. Thanks

Re: Puerto Rico Feb 2019
wlkconsulting, sorry for slow response. I don't have any pics of boat.
The location I found calls La Parguera. The town surrounded with small islands and apparently the boat rental is the main business of the town - you can find dozen of rentals over there (use google for contact). They offer few different sizes starting from 14ft, than 16ft and bigger. I took 14ft and it was comfy for 2 adults and 2 kids. Unfortunately, you can't go beyond these islands and need to stay inside boundaries. Good luck! |

Thanks. Will look into that but off the top of your head, did they have any zodiac rib style boats for rent? Thanks
