Re: A Visit To Possibly The Most Infested Lionfish Region Offshore Florida
I pulled 50 pounds in a dive on a wreck 120ish this week, the area I worked was about 10' by 20'.We had the SCDNR due a catch intercept on our unload for otoliths and interviews. We told the researchers it was worse every year and it should be the number 1 EC fisheries priority. But instead they are spending 50 million on catch shares studies and other BS.Researcher were sympathetic but politics drives fisheries. Nice vid, clear.

I wouldn't expect GPS numbers..but "about where" was this? The Keys, the east cost, the west coast?

Bounties, research on traps/methods that have little effect on native fish.Agree that just studying them is pointless.

If there is a commercial market, how much per pound are you guys getting for lionfish? Gutted or whole? Also, what kind of license do you need to sell this particular fish?
