Love the screen-shots. Really gets the imagination going.

I bought a brand-new Garmin recently. Should work well at 800-1000 feet if I get the ducer install right. Has all the bells and whistles.

Question; What can be expected from those depths in the Gulf (800 plus). Anything exotic? I primarily catch Tiles on open bottom in the Atlantic and occasionally some other tasty species, which must have been structure related but my sounder was lucky to simply make bottom/never marked anything except for a couple large wrecks.

Curious...was the bottom really that hard or did you have the gain cranked up that much to see the fish?

Harvester, yeah it's hard to beat those xsv Garmin units. I don't get out past 400' much anymore but there's exotic bottom out to 1000' for sure. I have never spent time in anything past those depths.

Here's a pic of a spot in 950' that really produced. The big pile of fish were ballbats (queen snapper). Too bad it's undiveable!
