220-230 that's about the deepest Ive been on air. you better have your shit together if you plan on diving over 180 on air.

186 is 1.4 ppo2. 217 is 1.6 ppo2. after 217 - high probability you are fish food.

No denying that over 200 feet on air is more risky. But to say that "high probablity" you will die? presuming that's what you mean by fish food, is stretching it a bit.
I'm not proud of it or bragging but many of my diving friends and I have exceeded that depth numerous times on air. No one has died. A couple got bent.

the pressure affects everybody different. you start working at 210-220 and if you cant control your breathing you can tox out pretty fast.

Re: How deep on air?

The Navy and the Association of Commercial Diving Educators (ACDE) limits air dives to 190' fsw for exactly that reason. High ppo2 and the narcosis factor.

Re: How deep on air?

I did a "touch and go" at 215' in Cozumel with my GF and my buddy who's a dive instructor.
I just wanted to go deeper and deeper, and deeper... But buddy grabbed me & we went back up.. LOL
Personally, I wouldn't attempt to spear at that dept and I would never go there alone...
