Re: GoPro underwater housing

Not a fan of how the lens covers up the front of the lcd display. Used one today, its nice to not have the vignetting but it really isnt that big of a deal. Cant go wrong tho, it does work.

Re: GoPro underwater housing

Ok well I got the new gopro underwater housing after having the mako flat lens. Currently I'm still using it with medium FOV instead of wide because of the vignetting from the mako flat lens. Should I start using wide FOV now that I have the new housing or what?

Re: GoPro underwater housing

Wide FOV will give you more of that fish eyed look. Med will still give you plenty of subject matter without making it look like you are in a fishbowl. Keep the med, it looks good on the dive housing.

Re: GoPro underwater housing

Lenses from blur fix are round, lenses to the new go pro housing are rectangle. Pm me if you are looking for lenses for the new dive housing.

Re: GoPro underwater housing

Just got a Go Pro and are getting used to using it. Are you better with the new dive housing, or getting a Mako flat lens.

Thanks

Re: GoPro underwater housing

There is no comparison between the two. One looks like you are staring down a toilet paper tube, the OEM dive housing does not.

I've been experimenting with both the GoPro OEM underwater housing/lens and the MAKO Flat lens. I have been using medium wide angle setting. To be honest, I'm not seeing a clear difference.

What I would really need to do is put two cameras on one mount, but I have a Hero and a Hero 2, so I can't really make a fair comparison of the housing when the camera itself is not the same.

I know the OEM will allow a wider setting, but that is not useful for spearfishing for me.

Re: GoPro underwater housing

Ok, well actually a friend of mine bought me the brand new GoPro OEM housing because I use his spearfishing clips in my videos and mention his name as well. Before I had the Mako lens and it worked great. So pretty much it'll be around the same clarity?

Re: GoPro underwater housing

I have a couple of dives with the new GoPro housing, but would love to be able to put the red filter that I had with the Mako lense on it. The videos I have taken are super green, but clear. The red filter I have is able to float within the lense and will not stay in place.
