Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
Got in up the coast today from 2-4, water was nice and clear at this spot. Didn't check any others but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some similar viz around. Saw 4 short halibut.

Then I had lobster boats pulling up and mean mugging me as if i was messing with their gear. shitty dive but ill be back out asap!

Refugio sucked this afternoon. 2' of vis once you got over any structure.

Um, no. Sorry, didn't mean to ignore anyone. I'll go check them.

Gav coast looked doable but stirred up really shallow still on Monday. Outter beds surely had some vis. Lots of bait on that stretch of coast.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
Was doing hook & line yesterday. Checked out some of the kelp beds and found some surprisingly good vis on some of the outside kelp beds. IF I didnt have to work today I would be on it. Feels like forever since there was a good string of visibility.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
Was that you out on that small inflatable off of the Douglas Preserve yesterday afternoon?
Got in last night around Swingin' Willy and it was not productive. Only areas huntable were in 5-6 feet depth, everything deeper was stirred. Got pretty surgey too as the low tide started pulling out. Tons and tons of shorts, with only 3 close enough to grab, measure, be sad, and then release. Was still glad to get in and take a look here since it'd been quite a while since I'd dove this spot.

Hoping to jump in the next day or two before the next weather front moves in. Anyone else do lobster instead of turkey for Thanksgiving?

Don't remember the last time I had a Thanksgiving or Christmas without a bug feast

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
Got out this morning up north of SB. Glassy water, no surge. Vis was pretty decent. I could clearly see the bottom from 6' all the way from shore to the outer kelp beds. Overall about 8-13' vis. Got a lingcod and other rockfish. Lots of bait in the water but not a lot of shootable fish. Only saw short bugs.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
What's going on down there with the mudslide fallout? I've heard all beaches are closed and they are dumping acres of contaminated sludge into the ocean because there is nowhere else to put it all.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
If you consider storm runoff "contaminated sludge" then yeah

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"
Still high bacteria counts at a number of our SB beaches. Best bet is to stay home up there and hit San Leandro Bay for cleaner conditions and water quality right now.
