Malibu Conditions Permathread

Alright ladies and gents. I got tired of everyone's winter anxieties and sexual frustrations this year, so I made myself scarce. While you guys were mostly bashing each other for shooting legal seabass that "weren't big enough," I preferred looking at internet porn. Anyhow, why don't we do something useful for each other and make a nice PERMA-THREAD on conditions for the summer?

It's seabass season, and I want to know where they . . . ahem. Where the conditions are good.

Missed you guys. Hope some of us on here have grown up and learned to not let the size of their speargun get to their head.

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

Guess I'll start.

Dove a protected cove in north malibu yesterday late afternoon / eve. Here's the skinny:

MALIBU REPORT (310#): 3 foot swell, 6 mph winds, 10-15 foot viz.
MSW: 2 foot swell, 12 mph winds at noon

ACTUAL CONDITIONS @ 4:30 PM: Winds seemed low, swell maybe 2 to 3 foot, but viz. was maybe 5-10 tops. (5-8 in most places).

Saw a couple small white seabass, assorted reef fish and bait.

Why has it been so damn windy around noon time for so long? My work/sleep schedule doesn't permit early morning dives . . . this could be a frustrating summer.

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

I went near Paradise Cove on Saturday and the viz was really poor...only barely opening up on the outside edge. Nothing seen or heard except for a Calico.

In favor of a permathread, too, just like the well-functioning one for Santa Barbara. But I see a couple people have already posted other Malibu reports since. I'll do my best to remember to post mine here and keep it going.

I was about a half mile off of deer creek today on a work trip. Blue water diving with 50+ visibility (no inshore...), but the water temp on my dive computer was 69 degrees. Lots of boats out and plenty of bait swimming around...

Dont bother with south malibu, water was green with vis 6-8 at best. Seemed like the kelp was deteriorating, and quite a bit has gone.

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

Anyone have eyes on the water in Malibu who would care to share a basic vis report? Thinking of hitting it this afternoon.
