Jupiter Lobs Again

Went out of Jupiter Saturday and Sunday with JDC. It was two days of
when only hard core divers would want to go. The vis was terrible and it
was colder doing the safety stops than on the bottom. We had to head way
south to get 30ft of vis and nearer to the inlet it was twenty. The seas
were calm. Anyways I was able to get a few bugs. Three on Saturday
and my limit on Sunday.

Tom:

You took a chance that the conditions would be acceptable and you seem to have won the bet!! I wimped out. I should have been on the dive boat with you with a class but I canceled and took them to Devil's Den.

I will be diving with JDC on the 17th, 23d, and 26th. I need some hunting time without being with a class. See you then.

I have two goals for the holidays; keep working on my boat and dive without classes.

Re: Jupiter Lobs Again

I'm on JDC for the thursday the 15th and also the 16th for the hole. Going privateer on the 17th. Won't be able to dive for month after this so I may as well try to cram it in with a mini-getaway.

Stephen, we'll be out early on saturday and try to radio you & Capt Mike our dive conditions after our first drops. Bugs we can find, it's fish lately that have been tough to pick from. I'll try post up some temperature reports come late thursday.

Re: Jupiter Lobs Again

Cliff: That sounds great. I have seen the roster of who is diving so far on the 23d and it is all seasoned hunters. That is good and bad. There is going to be a lot of elbowing and shoving on the way down to the bottom at Hole in the Wall to see who is at the head of the pack. I plan on stealing one fin from everyone else onboard just so I have a 50/50 chance of keeping up with you guys.

I am thinking about bringing the latest copy of Playboy so that you and Tom won't even bother to suit up.

We are talking to JDC about doing the dive a little differently. Instead of dropping south of the Hole and then coming up just north of the Hole, we are thinking of trying to get dropped North of the Hole and then drifting much further north along the ledge than the dive boats have gone in the past. I think it is worth a try to see if it might be a better producing area where no divers have been.

John:

Sorry you won't be on the boat. My focus is spearing also. I would rather shoot fish than grab bugs.

Man, I would kill for 20' to 30' of vis. We went out of Port Canaveral a week from last Sunday and only had 3' to 5' vis. We still got 22 bugs though.

Re: Jupiter Lobs Again

Good job slaker. I live in the Cape and if you ever need a diver to go
let me know.
Stephen, I'm on the next three tanker and I was thinking of asking Mike to
drop some of us off on a shallower reef as the Hole in the Wall is either the
best dive or the worst and its been negative lately. I think we might be able
to convince Capt Mike to do that. All we need to do is bribe him!

Re: Jupiter Lobs Again

What are the water temps over at Jupiter fro now till mid-January?? I have a buddy who just moved back to the area, and he is dying to go diving. I was going to try and hook up with Randy and do a JDC trip sometime shortly after the first of the year!!

Nice bugs - I'm jealous!!!

Scott:

If you can, come on one of the Friday, three tank dives. They are more relaxed and usually more fun that the half day, 2 tank dives. They usually have one each Friday.

Let us know when you are coming over and perhaps some of us will join you.

This friday the 16th is looking absolutely perfect with less than 2 footer seas and today was 75 degree water. Call in sick and come dive with some serious bug hunters. Santa Claus said forget the cookies and milk, leave me a cold one and some lobster chunks and I'll bring you a new Porche and a Victoria Secrets Model to ride with. Tell your buddy to bring a camera because we're going on a Lemon Shark rodeo hunt for the 3rd dive and if you have an AL80, you'll probably be eaten long before that tank runs out of air.

I'll post up some picts after tomorrows dives to wet the appetites!!

Re: Jupiter Lobs Again

Water temp was 74 last weekend. Doesn't go much below that maybe
70-72 mid winter.
