Sheepshead, Reds, and a Hog

Took last week off, speared a bunch of sheepshead, caught some reds on hook and line, and Austin capped a big feral Hog near my buddies house this morning.

Nice... But please tell me that isn't a loaded speargun next to your head in the boat with you holding the sheepshead....

Do you wrap your floatline around your gun?

Yes, if I am going to leave the rig and get in the boat, It will tangle in the rig legs if you dont.

Re: Sheepshead, Reds, and a Hog

Is Austin shooting a p-38? Nice piney woods rooter. I think the Barta guy he is talking about is this guy who has a fishing/hunting show. Guy says he likes to do things the hard way. Shoots a longbow and builds his own arrows. He has a ESPN show but the guys is a bit high strung. At least he knows he is demanding so if you watch his show or are on a trip with him you probably know what you are getting into. thanks for sharing the pics

Re: Sheepshead, Reds, and a Hog

Hey Apex, you know your firearms. That was my dads gun, he brought it back from WWII. Several years after his death, I found it in some of his things along with a paper that allowed him to bring it back from Germany to the US. He never talked about the war, so I dont know any history about how he got it. Austin has a couple of nice rifles to hunt with but he wanted to hunt with Grandads 63yr old pistol last saturday. I dont watch many hunting shows, they are always talking about "harvesting deer". Harvesting is what you do to a wheat field, I kill stuff.

They call it "Harvesting" because anymore, the way they feed and preen the herd to grow the huge racks for their $10,000/per person hunting bozo's, they may as well be a crop and harvested is a better term for that.... I am with you, I hunt and kill stuff..... Then I eat it....

Nice sheepie... I love to eat them babies too!!!
