Tomorrow . . . . . would YOU go out?
Was thinking of heading out maybe 15 miles at the most, SW of Tarpon. But given the call for 3-4 foot waves (even though the wave period is 8-9 seconds) and a decent chance of rain, I just don't know if it would be worth it. Plus the tides are pretty strong tomorrow and I wonder about viz.

Eric, we had a "sporty" day trolling for kings and macks 10 miles out of JP in a Bertram 38 today. We still caught nice size macks about a 1/2 mile off the beach on our way in. You could always bring a few rods and trolling gear for a Plan "B". Good luck.

Decided to not risk it, especially since viz was going to be crappy.

Good call. It was rough and a bit uncomfortable out there. One diver was bit ill for awhile. I had to Meclizine up.
Ran 30 miles NW out of New Port Richey. Dove in 45'. Viz on dive one horizontally was about 7'. Vertically a particulate filled 15'. Plus current ripping from E. Shot a legal Hog on rock piles. My buddy shot 2. Temp was 78. Seas all of 4' through most of day. Some 5'. Storm front briefly came through. Picked up a few fish here and there. Lots of fish. Mainly shorts. Hit a wreck to look for cobia for last dive. Seas had settled a bit. Viz was best of day. Less current. Aj's met us at surface. I didn't see any big enough. When I got to wreck, it was engulfed in bait. I almost swam into wreck. Moved away from wreck and saw some big gags. But I had line on, and they were too far away. So by time I got it off, too late. Shot another Hog. When I headed up, put line back on. Jacks came back in. All smaller side with this one mixed in. 37.5#. My buddy nabbed another one that made the cut. Nice, Dave! Glad you got out, but I'm even more glad I didn't head out - LOL. Wouldn't have been fun in my 25 foot boat. At least you got an AJ - I've been skunked on them all year.

Nice AJ David. We too have been blanked on legal size AJ’s this season. We are heading out Tuesday in hopes of finding some AJ’s and Cobia and then dive a few ledges for Gags, Hogs, and Go’s. Supposed to lay down to 2’ or so.
