Re: Death in the Short Grass

Work, Motorcycles, Home Renos, and Bear hunting have kept me out of the water lately. to many ways to enjoy the sunshine! After dinner swim yielded a hat trick tonight.

Yours translates "neither rashly nor timidly"

A Comp 2 IS a cannon - I have a 2x. Water must have been a little more clear for you to be able to have used it.

I would agree with you , except..once at a fair in Wisconsin a guy was selling smoked Carp, I laughed and kept walking. He left his stand to catch up to me, he coerced me into trying a small bite of his smoked carp. I was amazed, it was actually good! So I would guess, if done right, a smoked turd is edible?

Have you tried gutting them right after you spear them?

I don't know if it go so far as to make carp palatable, but for fish I've caught (especially some of the "fishier" tasting ones) it makes a noticeable difference vs. fish sitting in a cooler whole.

Might be worth a shot.

My inlaws had somebody give them bottled carp and they claimes it was better than canned tuna. Any thoughts if you kill the fish instantly vs. if it dies slowly in panic for taste. Like if you shoot a elk thats freaking out with its adrenaline pyumping its gamier.

Carp=Crap.....sorry, but I have eaten them every way (sashimi to cassarole) from many different (some gin clear) waters and there is no place in my diet for them. Canned tuna is also shit in my opinion and any fresh fish would be better on the plate, even carp. But, always be your own judge of what tastes good.

Yeah, I know that I'm a loser this year (thanks for rubbin' it in).

Awesome - can't wait to put my hands on the new weapon!! Stickin' some logs sounds tempting... so does a cooler full of beer.

23#'s is a big boy. Did you stone him or did he put up a fight? If he fought, was it much of a tussle?
