Re: New GoProBlack3+ advise please?

I gave up on the remote WiFi underwater idea once I got the Gopro app on my iphone. The iphone app is WAY better for me and my needs BECAUSE:
1. With my old eyes I couldn't see what the remote was showing without my reading glasses anyway. The iphone screen is WAY bigger than the WiFi remote screen.
2. The iphone app allows me to view / delete what I just filmed next time I get back to the yak, thus allowing me to save card space for the next dive.
3. The iphone app easily allows me to change the GoPro settings AND other advantages I haven't even figured out yet.
4. The GoPro app is free
5. Check out the GoPro app here: http://gopro.com/software-app/gopro-app
hope this helps

Re: New GoProBlack3+ advise please?

I've been testing the 3+ for a few trips now. The video is pretty incredible. The one recommendation I have is to NOT use superview while spearfishing. I tried it, and a few other settings to see what I liked and I get to close to the bottom and have too many dive buddies and such close to me on edge of frame which gets stretched.

I have been playing with Medium view lately and really like it. It doesn't make 60# wahoo look like ballyhoo like wide does.

Re: New GoProBlack3+ advise please?

Just found this mask that is already "GoPro Ready" from the manufacture. Just set your GoPro on to the top and insert the thumb screw==done. I do not own one yet, but the reviews I have seen are favorable. I'm sure that this mask (as with any mask) will not fit EVERYONE, but the GoMask could be a good alternative for anyone who can't / don't want to, take the time/effort to do their own mask modification. Hope this helps

Re: New GoProBlack3+ advise please?

I've been using the XS Scuba with the GoPro 3+ for about a month now. The mask is very nice quality and comfortable to wear. The skirt is very soft. I would definitely categorize it as a low volume mask, especially compared to other standard freedive masks. It is not Ultra low volume though like some of the tiny masks but not big by any means. The visibility is EXCELLENT in my opinion.

It's pretty simple, screw the camera on. That's it. Not much more I can review. The stainless is very nice as you never feel like you have to baby it and having the threaded end already there means you cannot lose the nut. It is heavier than a normal mask but you don't feel that at all on your face and this keeps the mask from feeling like the gopro is pulling from above. In other words, the metal mask frame ballasts the camera nicely.

At my level/lung capacity/diving ability I have taken it down to 70' pretty comfy and hunting but I don't have the lungs to go past that for any amount of time. For those not diving super deep on average this mask is great for filming. In comparison with the super tiny Zero I can repeat in the high 80's and tickle the 90's. But I already knew this which I why I went from a low volume to an ultra low volume. For shallow stuff though I like a more comfortable mask when I can use one and this one is fantastic.

Re: New GoProBlack3+ advise please?

Might have to check your out JP, been kind of wanting to put a camera on the mask, I'm getting sick of the head stap under my hood. Plus it looks like it has a big enough space for my schnoz.

Re: New GoProBlack3+ advise please?

The nose pocket is definitely on the large size. You can use/borrow mine any time you like, it's a really cool product.
