Sebastian or ft Pierce vis
Anyone been out lately off Sebastian or Ft pierce? I am looking for a vis/temp report. On a side not the beach in Vero and Wabasso looks clear today.
Thanks for any help. Steve |

Re: Sebastian or ft Pierce vis
Last weekend out of Sebastian was 15-20 ft vis and a little chilly below 50 ft when you hit the thermo.

Thanks. Vis off the beach today is 10-20 ft within 4 miles south of the inlet.

Re: Sebastian or ft Pierce vis
I have been hearing cold blacked out conditions from the beach to the 90s between SI and Ft Pierce. Can anyone provide an updated report?

Re: Sebastian or ft Pierce vis
Dive Odyssey said they had a report of 6 ft vis in 80 out of Ft Pierce today. They also said there was a strong current out of the north.
Last Sunday 3 mile reef off Vero was top to Bottom Vis. Still bunches of algae there. |

Re: Sebastian or ft Pierce vis
I was with some guys in Sebastian Thurs 8/30. 52' of water. At 35' deep the water went from 84 to 72 Deg. Bottom Vis at 8am was about 30'. Dove two tanks. On the second tank vis went down to 20'ish. We got mangroves sheepshead and lobster.

Re: Sebastian or ft Pierce vis
the seas look to lay down just enough for the first time in a loooong time this weekend. Does anyone have any vis reports out of sebastian? I was thinking about trying to grab some bugs that have forgotten people exist.

Re: Sebastian or ft Pierce vis
Went diving yesterday on the 40ft reefs off Vero Beach. We cleaned up on the BIG bugs!! A dozen all over 3lbs with a few over 6lbs. The bottom was murky with about 5-8ft of vis. Water was warm all the way down, close to 80F. A little current but not bad.
The concerning thing was lots of dead grunts all over the bottom. At first I thought someone emptied their live bait over the side but I found them everywhere. Some were still alive but unable to swim. They just flopped around on the bottom but never went far. It only affected the grunts. Lots of small mangoes and other reef fish everywhere that seemed healthy. Anybody have thoughts? I am hoping it isnt red tide and just a temperature thing. We were half way between SI and FTP inlets. |

Re: Sebastian or ft Pierce vis
My vote is that the dead grunts are related to the red tide. Thanks for the report. I couldn't get a crew a divers for Sunday so just fished around the inlet at Ponce. A little swell in the water and the wind never let up but would have been doable to run out. Gills are drying out with this weather and kids sports.
