Spearo title

How many times must you spearfish or how many fish must you spear to brandish the moniker?

1,000

In the world of fishing for black marlin in Australia, catching a "grander" is an honor. So, I submit that number honors you with the title " Spearo." Does this number make sense?

1,000. That is quite a lot of fish. I do not believe I have eaten 1,000 fish in my lifetime.

Re: Spearo title

Of the 3 criteria thus far suggested, spearing 1,000 fish, spearing a 1,000 pound fish, or posting 1,000 times, which is the easiest and which is the most difficult?

I think you can claim the title as soon as you've shot one fish.

Hunters can be hunters even if they've never yet killed anything, so maybe you can call yourself a spearo if you've been in the water with a spear, HOPING to shoot a fish.

Re: Spearo title

But the title is automatically revoked for a minimum period of 36 months if anyone finds out you tried spearfishing in a full face mask...

I suspect this would be a more fruitful line of inquiry. What other things would prohibit a would-be Spearo from the term?

Titles of entitlement are entitled to the title, nothing more nothing less. The fish you hunt don't care about your title or lack thereof. It is the actions you do that define you.

To become a Spearo you must first learn the ways of the force young padawan.
The Force is what gives a Spearo his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galax-err ocean together.

It sounds like there is a lot of penetration going on around here.

Yes, you must penetrate your fish with your long, hard shaft before you can proudly wear the title of a Spearo.
And you must also allow the force to penetrate you.

You aren't supposed to do that with a flopper shaft if you're in California for WSB, but you're in Baltimore so it's OK.

And if you were in California, you'd be disqualified if you asked what a WSB was. I don't think it matters anywhere else.

Most of the #Spearo rules only apply to California, so you're probably OK.

Why do the Californians not want flopper penetrations on WSB?
