Palm Beach Beach spearfishing

I'm told the water clarity is a bunch better than the last few weeks.

Anyone want to join me this weekend at some shallow Beach divesv in Palm Beach County or Broward.

Cheers

Re: Palm Beach Beach spearfishing

If anyone is interested, went out in Boynton. Water vis was about 20 feet. I went to about 15 ft depth

Nothing really worth shooting other than a few Spanish mackerel, a barracuda (if you need shark bait) and a few barely legal mangroves...oh and one huge lobster.

I didn't even bother aiming at anything, but was good to see the water clarity finally coming back.

Re: Palm Beach Beach spearfishing

Beach viz in Jupiter on Saturday was unlimited at times. The clear gulf stream water had pushed way in and viz was top to bottom as long as you avoided the large masses of river water coming out of the inlets during outgoing tide. On the way out the inlet(almost high incoming tide) you could see every speck on the bottom. The difficult part is predicting which beach will be clear of the masses of river water. I have gone out to shallow wrecks before only to have the line of good viz vs river water be just yards away from the wreck I wanted to hit. There are many variables but here are some general observations for Jupiter Inlet and Lake Worth Inlets.

Roughly (depending on location and the amount of recent rain)1hour after inlet high tide the river water will have pushed out the clear water and the viz will deteriorate on the down current side of the Inlet. The current normally runs north outside of these inlets so beach viz north of the inlets will start to worsen as the brackish water mixes out. Depending on how far north you are and how fast the current is that day, your viz will change throughout the day.
