Re: Great white in Fort pierce

On Saturday another person was eaten by a great white in western Australia while surfing. This is the 5th fatal shark attack in west oz in 10 months, and 7 in the region in a little over 3 years. They still won't do anything and the Greene pricks say there still near extinct. West Australia is now the deadliest coast in the world, and the govt just takes a back seat! If you all are seeing more of them I wonder if there's been a population. Explosion?!

Its funny how we all talk about fighting the bull sharks for fish we shoot- Shoot cobia off of bull sharks etc.. We see a GW in our area and everyone runs for cover!

Awesome vid and for the record, I would have run for cover too!

Unmistakably Whitey....Good footage!
If you have the two videos, you can tell if it's the same shark or not. A number of years ago, I helped an old college friend tag GW sharks off the coast of Guadalupe in Mexico. What he discovered is that by comparing the white/gray interface around the mouth, around the gills, and at the base of the tail, he could ID individual sharks. Last I heard, he had positively identified over 70 individuals. He even named one after me.

If you want to know more about his research, this is his website. http://www.marinecsi.org/about-us/ His name is Micheal Domier. He could probably look at the two videos and tell you in a couple minutes. Tell him Keith sent you his way.

Cool video, they are the single most impressive critter I've ever seen underwater.

i am pretty sure chumming would be the last thing you want to do unless you want him to stay in your back yard like a dog

Re: Great white in Fort pierce

Sweet video! I definatly would not want to be bobing around on top of the water with one of those lurking around. It's pretty wild watching footage of Great whites launching out of the water for seals.

Re: Great white in Fort pierce

Reminds me of an adage I came up with or accross, as a kid, reading way too many shark attack accounts.

You never want to be the first one in the water or the last one out.

Its funny how you give the news channel a story and when you read it later it's all wrong!! The cam was not on a pole it was in bare hands.

Yup - that does add an element of limb loss danger especially with that one extreme close-up shot
