Re: Your Max Freediving Depth and Underwater Time

3 minutes static, 1:30 dynamic, 85 max depth down a rope. 67 feet shooting fish. Still learning. Plenty of room for improvement. Most of my fish come from 40ft of water on 40-60 second dives!

Re: Your Max Freediving Depth and Underwater Time

Snapper1 I would say that is all you ever need to do, about all I can do all day, and most divers truethfully can't do that. Most Blue water fish are in less than 40' maybe tuna 60'. Most structure for reef fish 40' or less. I watched this winter 3 different young freedivers show up for some line work with trained freedivers. All 3 made a 100' and all 3 blacked out. If they had been spearing as usual, too heavy and no buddy watching all 3 would have died. One at 10 meters.

5 min static at the pfi lvl 2 and 90ft. I typically hunt in 40 - 60 ft with 1:30 - 2min bottom time. That said the best fish are usually not at the bottom.

Re: Your Max Freediving Depth and Underwater Time

3min static time 60ft is my deepest dive as of yet. Normal hunting depths 20-40 average time under is 1:15-1:45 depending on what I'm hunting for, bugs usually get the longest breath holds lol amazing how entertained you get pulling them out of the holes.

Re: Your Max Freediving Depth and Underwater Time

72 feet deepest in class which took 45 seconds up and down.
3:30ish static.
Dynamic usually 60 seconds with a decent breathe-up until I get a strong urge to breathe

level 1 certified

Re: Your Max Freediving Depth and Underwater Time

Living in Gainesville for the time being (college student), I don't get to go out very often at all. It has been several months for me. I haven't ever tested how far I could go to get fish because most of the places I go stay under 50'. If I had to guess, I'd say I am probably somewhere around 1:00-1:20 if need be in around 40'. I've never tried much deeper. Never needed to try any deeper. My best static breath hold was right around 3:30. I tried to see how far over the 7 Mile Bridge I could make it while my father drove. I proved not to be able to make it all the way across.

Re: Your Max Freediving Depth and Underwater Time

My max depth was 80'; static 2:45. 50'-60' is my comfort zone for hunting but most of my fish have died in less than 40'. Also, it's my understanding that forums were created for more rapid and efficient dick measuring

Re: Your Max Freediving Depth and Underwater Time

65' for 3:05-3:10 in 8ft viz looking for grouper in Baja was my best freediving I've ever done.
Too bad I'm 30lbs heavier now and have a whole lot less time to dive lol the above happened about 5 years back.
I'm probably at about 1:30-2:00 now at any depth I want but I kill a lot more fish now lol
