Going to Maui for a week

Hey all,

I have been invited to join some friends for a week in Maui from Nov 11th - 18th. I'm super stoked since I've never been to Hawaii before and finally have the opportunity.

I have no idea the group's general game plan but I have every intention of being in the water for the overwhelming majority of the trip. Thankfully my main dive buddy will be on this trip as well, so I figure the girlfriends can do whatever it is girlfriends do in Hawaii and we can dive our F'ing guts out.

Anyway, I am not too familiar with Hawaiian culture and really don't want to piss anyone off but since this is pretty much a once in a lifetime trip for me; I do want to get some quality dives in and hopefully some quality fish. Any do's and dont's that I should be aware of? I'm not expecting anyone's secret dive spots, but are there any generally recommended beaches that you guys would suggest? Gear recommendations? Particular fish to target?

I have been avidly diving for about 5 years now and so has my buddy. Both of us are comfortable and effective on the reef and in bluewater if that helps.

I am also flying from socal, should I bother bringing guns or just renting something there?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

-Devin
