Thumbs up Broadbill Swordfish speared and land in Tahiti

Yesterday , one my friend , Dell Lamartiniere , was lucky to meet a male Broadbill swordfish and was able to speared it with his Riffe speargun .
The Swordfish was not too deep attracted , by a female larger swordfish , the female who had been caught at the bottom line and was under the boat of her professional fishing friend who had called for help because she could not get her fish back on her own ! ( fishing YF tuna is very different than any Swordfish .)
when Dell arrived he was in his small aluminum boat with some his gear ; a Riffe and one my carbon rail gun double rubber and went in water to check what was the fish her friend was not able to pull alone to surface ....then he saw the small ( 140 lbs ) male swimming around and then grab his gun to spear it ...Dell is not a beginner spearo and was in the tahitian team in last World championship in Portugal and he his able to freedive quite deep , so he speared the broadbill with the riffe but the fish was not dead and escape to attack him ...lucky to jump in her friend boat he went back inside water and speared the swordfish again , as far as i know twice , one time again with the Riffe and same shaft that did escape from the fish and one more time with my gun in the head .
as he is not someone who is interest in any thing else than selling the fish , the fish was not even weighted and will not be a pending World record !

That is a dangerous fish to spear. A very experienced fishing captain saw a similar sized Swordfish swimming around in the harbor here and jumped in and speared it and the fish attacked him and speared him through the heart and he was killed. Congrats your commercial fishermen friends.

PS. those boats are so nice. Wish we had something like that here in Hawaii.

Rapidly transformed into foodstuffs, that is the way to do it!

I remember when that guy was killed. Makes this catch all the more impressive

Maybe somewhere in the deep there is a scoreboard chiselled out on an old sunken timber wreck.

Divers (Double-ended Squids) - 12; Swordfish (Broadbill) - 4 (records pending as weight unverifiable in both classes)
Fill in your own numbers!
