Re: Kimi Werner Patagonia ??
Obviously it went over your head...and proved my statement all at the same time.
You're just thinking way too small. If you want to spear fish then go do it.

And you're not alone or wrong to feel that way.

Re: Kimi Werner Patagonia ??
Apparently I am, so I'll spell it out for you. The fact that the link to Patagonia wasn't blocked or censored implies that they are in bed with SB.

Re: Kimi Werner Patagonia ??
I fully support all areas to be open to fishing using science and education to manage take. Complete closures are BS.
I am trying to remember the Patagonia role in the MLPA. If memory serves me right.... They were silent and did not have any position right up until the end. Correct? then all the sudden a press release in support of Closures. Correct? If that is the case, they should be scolded. But no involvement till the end seems like a political positioning. As a big company like that, how do you come out and say "We are against protection of Marine life"? Think about that, ANY statement of NON support for the MLPA will position a company as barbarianS and rapists of the sea. No? I see Patagonia as an opportunity. Their customers are the people that need educating. And if they are hipster kids with a little bit of cash, they are probably easily stayed. Perhaps having Kimi on board with them will enlighten them a bit. What a great opportunity for ALL US SPEARO'S!!!!!! Don't beat Kimi up, thank her. And if she can get money from them she should get as much as she can. No one is a sell out until they check there integrity at the door. |

Re: Kimi Werner Patagonia ??
I think that is well said.
The other problem though is they glamorize spearfishing. If more people are turned on to spearing by this route it could be bad for us. For example, spearing illegal species or killing and wasting fish. Surf fashion certainly increased the number of rookie surfers congesting the water. |

Re: Kimi Werner Patagonia ??
Well. A river runs through it ruined fly fishing and then you have some female guides who like to flash cleavage to gain attention and all the morons who flock to that.....
Trust me. (Who wouldnt, lol.) Fly fishing community is now a bunch of limp dicked wanna be frat boys or granola crunchers who try to keep everyone but fly anglers from fishing. I spearfish to kill dinner and enjoy nature, not because some movie star or porn star wannabe said it was cool. I hope it stays way uncool to the masses, but legal. |

The Malloy brothers, who are "surfing goodwill ambassadors", most definately get paid by Patagonia. And it's not a pittance either. I tend to believe it's big money. And all the Malloys' spearfish too. Unfortunatly, They didn't seem to sway Patagonia's opinion. I hope Kimi is squeezing Patagonia for all the money she can!
