Lost fin-reward

I lost a green xx one fin with Omer foot pocket yesterday diving the Halsey wreck in Stuart. Would love to get it back and will give a handsome reward if found.

Re: Lost fin-reward

Here's a couple excerpts from my FB page explaining how/why fin was lost/left. It's on the N north piece. Would be curious to see exactly how close HawgDawg came to losing his life.

"My dive partner had his fin ripped off by a huge bull shark today. I was down and heard the crunch and looked over to see my friend's fin sinking to bottom and a monster bull zipping by. Thought he'd been bit. He took off for surface with no gun and 1 fin. Saw shark circle back and was afraid it was coming back to finish job so, rode shotgun under my friend rest of the way to surface. Luckily turned out to only be the fin but still, scary stuff! 20 yrs of diving S. FL and I've never seen behavior like that before."

"...powerhead wouldn't have helped. We never even knew it was there. Came from behind at full speed and snatched him up. He had a fish down on his gun. Can you image?! Still can't believe shark went for him and not fish. It was no mistake, he wasn't even next to fish when shark grabbed him."

Re: Lost fin-reward

Saw you guys there,we were outside of you .
We left because of the 5 ft of vis, not really good for any diving let alone free diving in that area.We eneded up finding 30 ft but very deep.
Stay Safe.

Re: Lost fin-reward

Yeah, it was spooky but there was plenty fish so, we stayed. Guess that was our mistake. Until attack, we'd shot 3 cobia, a permit, a big gag, and a nice mangrove.

Re: Lost fin-reward

After the shark ripped my fin off, my main concern was getting to the top in one piece. I looked over and Muya thai was right there and escorted me to the top. We always dive one up one down but on that particular day the current was moving in a weird direction and the only way for both of us to hit the wreck was to dive at the same time. I dont know if Muya thai would have believed the story had he not been down there next to me! Does anyone know a good way to remove poop stains from a wetsuit?

Unfortunately for me, I did see it and let me tell you what, once you witness the shear speed and power of a true attack, it's a game changer!

This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we’ll be lucky to live through it.”

Better bring back commercial shark fishing before someone gets killed again.
I say again because it's happened before. That windsurfing that died off Stuart beach a few years ago. Bull sharks attacked him, no mistaken bite, they
We're feeding on him.

Holy Crap, it's getting real out there. I dive that area all the time. Never had a problem. I better get the double endemnity policy for the girls if things are going to keep getting crazy around here. GWS, bull sharks all meth'ed up....What the hell is next? Lionfish with straight razors and broken beer bottles.
I'm glad your Bro is OK. Don't mean to make light of his experience. That's the real deal. He's very lucky.

Wow. Crazy story

I practice diving kicking with one fin regularly in the event of break at depth, but never planned on a shark taking one from me.

Sharks are on a decline/worldwide,no need for a commercial season, enjoy them while they're around.

That's sorta like telling a drowning man in Texas, that: there is a drought in California.

We got a shit load more sharks now than we did 5 or 10 (or 20) years ago on both sides of Florida.

Still no sympathy, despite showing up with the Reggae shark. If you hunt in 5' viz because there's fish around, then the taxman's not to blame, period! Glad that nothing serious happened.
