Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Was a bit rough out there lol. We went out of clrwtr but turned around after about 3 miles. Tossed around in a 36er.

PS. Thank you much for the ride Chris

ACK - that's bad when you get tossed around in a 36 footer.

I'd be interested in seeing if ANYONE around here went out today or tomorrow.

Of course, when we're WORKING the conditions are ideal - its a cosmic joke, I tell ya.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Justin well do it again on a better day. It was the wave over the t top at three miles out that made the " run home " call. Went out about 10 am today....snotty but doable.

30fsw out of NPR. Hook and Line only today since it was a late afternoon/evening outing, but could see our anchor line down a ways. Guessing vis was about 15-20. Definitely shootable.....Caught gags, reds, hogs, mangos, grunts and seabass....Loat 2 nice cobia near the boat. Major bummer.

It looks like it is going to be a good weekend, finally. I will be diving Sat and Sun out of Boca Grande, PM me if you are interested in joining, will probably be looking for a freediver at least one of the days. Need to be comfortable in 65'.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Took the kids out for some hook and line yesterday. Got a good, early start and was excited because at the end of Crystal River channel, the water was already a clear greenish. Then about 5 miles out it turned black as river water. We went WSW to as far as 27 miles past the last set of markers, and it remained black with about 10 foot of vis. in 35 ft of water. On a more promising note, if anyone is going out again soon, there's about a 50# cobia hanging around the Seahorse reef light off of cedar key. Kelli, my beautiful wife, saw it first and couldn't get bait in front of it fast enough, but we all saw him, and he's huge. She had the shakes for 10 minutes after missing him. Like buck fever. Vis there was top to bottom, but it's only 12-15 ft deep, and water was very black.
