Funny that with the ice ages and warming periods acknowledged by scientists that so many believe that the fact that modern global temps are not stagnant must mean that it was caused by an industrial revolution.

Re: once in a lifetime fish...

I have mixed feelings about the coming El Nino. If it is as strong as being predicted, it will certainly mean a mix of good and bad for our fishing and fishes. The last very strong el nino obliterated huge areas of kelp and was all around bad for many reef species (I remember the calico fishing was insane because the bass were all starving to death). At the same time, the offshore action in a couple weeks could be pretty great... I guess we will wait and see...

This is akin to the people that say that evolution is stupid "because my grandma ain't no monkey". It shows a complete lack of understanding of the basic scientific principles and real-world data that led to and support the theory. Go educate yourself.

Edit: Here's an article specific to your particular brand of head-in-the-sand http://grist.org/climate-energy/curr...natural-cycle/

^Small, moderate at best is correct. All just a guessing game until August or September when it really starts to develop. All the warm water pooling around the equator is a great indicator, but a lot still has to happen.

The comparison to '97 is now a fantasy.

Re: once in a lifetime fish...

Last time we ever marked 67 degrees in the northern channel islands the first week of June was not in 1996. This is gonna be an insane year.

Guys down south aready hit 60-90 lb bluefin in may off San Diego.

You seem pretty confident. The early season action says otherwise. The pool of warm water at the equator right now makes 97 look tame by comparison

Re: once in a lifetime fish...

^ That was a few months ago, and it never surpassed '97. Most of the early season warm water has dissipated due to the eastern winds along the equator in the EPAC.

Are we setting up for an El Nino, yes. Will it be close to the 97, thankfully no.

Also, Lompoc Local, for comparison I am attaching the charts from May 1997 and May 2014, you may want to check your sources...

Explain 60-90 lb BLUE FIN to me then in May in San Diego. You must be an implant here. Or new to any type of fishing.

Canyon, your color charts dont mean anything. They are ridiculously bold, we have boats with temp sensors LMFAO. Show Lompoc your fish then talk. Even the bloody deckers are wigging out.

Last Friday I was reading 66-69.5 degrees at Santa Cruz.
I don't ever remember it being that warm in early June

Probably the funniest thing I have read in a while, thank you.
