Vlanik Pistonless Pneumatic Speargun
Here is the Russian "Vlanik" pistonless pneumatic speargun.
http://vlanikgun.simplesite.com/435006862 It is the simplest form of pneumatic speargun as it has no inner workings and is a forward latching speargun, hence an annular notch is required at the front end of the shaft. The largest model for now is the 70 cm model. http://vlanikgun.simplesite.com/435006862 This is the 50 cm model http://vlanikgun.simplesite.com/435006811 The guns are very efficient in transforming your loading effort into spear propulsion as the only frictional losses are in the muzzle seal that the shaft slides through. https://forums.deeperblue.com/threads/vlanikgun.90450/ Last edited by popgun pete; 08-26-2018 at 08:03 PM. Re: Vlanik Pistonless Pneumatic Speargun
The prices of the "Vlanik" guns are:
50 cm model gun: 7800 rubles US$116.07 ; spare spear shaft 800 rubles US$11.90 70 cm model gun: 9000 rubles US$133.93; spare spear shaft 1000 rubles US$14.88 Shipping costs are unknown, but there have been problems getting spearguns out of Russia. The solution to date has been sending the guns in a partially dismantled state, e.g. the handle in one parcel, the spear and barrel in another. Last edited by popgun pete; 08-26-2018 at 10:27 PM. |

Re: Vlanik Pistonless Pneumatic Speargun
I asked Vladimir if he would sell his guns internationally. He replied that he will not, but suggested that anyone wanting to purchase a "Vlanik" gun should arrange for an intermediary in Russia to order and buy the gun on their behalf and then ship it out to you.

Re: Vlanik Pistonless Pneumatic Speargun
As you can see from the parts photo there is not much to the "Vlanik" gun as with no inner barrel the spear just sit inside the air reservoir and is driven out by the pressure acting on its spear tail which is much higher than ambient pressure acting on the nose of the spear.
The "cockscomb” shaped line release wraps all but the last wraps that wind back and forth on the top or the side of the gun using the lower section of the "cockscomb" with only the last wrap at the top. This last wrap produces a higher pull (i.e. torque) that will tip the line release over thereby allowing all the rest of the line wraps to escape from the gun without any resistance. Note that the lower wrap position does not produce enough torque to flip the line release over being closer to the line release pivot pin. Last edited by popgun pete; 08-28-2018 at 08:30 AM. Re: Vlanik Pistonless Pneumatic Speargun
An option if you cannot buy a genuine Vlanik gun is to buy one of the clones. Here is a link to the Evolusion pistonless gun which is very similar to the Vlanik gun.
http://gidromania.com/pnevmaticheski...tanovoe-ruzhe/ Longest models are 70 cm with options as to where the grip handle is positioned on the gun. Basically this sets the length of the pull rod on the gun when the handle is placed at a different position. Price before shipping is about US$250. The barrel of the Evolusion gun is made from titanium. Thanks to the buoyancy element in the handle the gun floats after the shot. The third photo shows Vlanik type guns with different handles. This interesting video shows an “Evolusion” pistonless speargun in action, note the hunter is hiding just out of frame at times and is using some sort of fish decoy anchored by a near invisible tethering line that encourages fish to gather near it and then “wham” they get skewered at sometimes surprisingly long range. https://youtu.be/3J1WS7KR-FY Last edited by popgun pete; 10-23-2018 at 06:14 PM. |

Re: Vlanik Pistonless Pneumatic Speargun
The pistonless guns which have revised handles look pretty good! (last photo in the attachments, in fact not a "Vlanik" with a new handle, but a completely new gun using the same design)
Vlanik 70, The most powerful of the line of guns ... With an envelope of 70 cm, it has an amazing shooting range of 5.6 meters ... It is widely used both in freshwater reservoirs and during sea hunting ... (first photo) Note that the above comments are from the website for Vlanik guns: http://vlanikgun.simplesite.com/ I have no experience of them, although enough is known of them that a gun could be made relatively easily if you have access to the machinery to make the muzzle which is the most demanding part. The price of a set with one harpoon is 9000 rubles. Price spare harpoon 1000 rubles. The schematic shows the interior of the "Vlanik" pistonless pneumatic speargun. The pistonless gun spear shaft must be free of scratches, rust or any surface damage as such defects will tear the muzzle seal resulting in air leaks and will depressurize the gun in a very short time, possibly in seconds. Re: Vlanik Pistonless Pneumatic Speargun
At one time Vlanik offered their own dive equipment as can be seen here along with a green barrel "Vlanik" gun.
