Re: Mako line release help
its not releasing when/how?
if the shaft is fully engaging in the mech, and when you shoot it doesnt fly, the release probably has to much tension on it from the mono and is holding up the sear causing it not to release and not to shoot. are you using a reel? loosen the drag some so that there isnt as much pressure on the line release or re-rig your mono and bungee if you are using a breakaway |

Re: Mako line release help
I would shoot a garden hose jet down the open mechanism opening, spray some Wd-40 or silicone spray down there. See if the problem is resolved - if not call Dano on Monday morning..

Re: Mako line release help
I cleaned it out good and sprayed some lube into it. It seems to work when we pull it towards the trigger while the line is attached. If that makes since.

Re: Mako line release help
Problem resolved I take it? Had a similar problem and I adjusted the line length about a quarter inch and it solved the problem.

Re: Mako line release help
So just a quick follow up. I talked to Mako and they pointed me to instructions on disassembling the handle. The Oceanic has a cartridge trigger that pulls right which allowed me to examine what was going on. I noticed the mating surface between the line release and the part that releases it was rough and had some black deposits on it, since this gun is practically new I assumed the black was grease and grit from machining the stainless parts. I cleaned it thoroughly with a q tip and rubbing alcohol which solved the problem but the surfaces and action were still a little rough so I took another q tip with metal polish and cleaned it up a little. Line is releasing great now and performed flawlessly on Saturday.

Re: Mako line release help
Yea, we have 2 brand new Mako guns doing the same thing. We will take them apart and smooth the surfaces this weekend. Have not called but does anybody know if Dano is aware of this?

Re: Mako line release help
We have no history of problems with the line release, however in a few instances customers have rigged the line bungi too tight which had an adverse effect. However, if the gun is new with original rigging, then this should not be the case.
Please call me in the morning to discuss. We will get it taken care of. Thanks Dano

Re: Mako line release help
Our problem was the bungee being too tight. My son loves the Mako and shoots everything that he pulls the trigger on.

Mako customer service is AMAZING!!!
Called Mako today, They are sending out new parts 2nd day UPS. Never had service anywhere close to this!! Nice guys as well. Our issue was not safety related, and was a bit intermittent. We probably caused it ourselves by doing a freeshaft/lineshaft convertible rig, but Dano said no issues, he is very proactive. Thanks to Dano and crew!!
