Predicting weather

What is the best way of predicting weather for an upcoming trip?

I've been using accuweather along with bouyweather.

Is there a better method?

Re: Predicting weather

NOAA Marine Forecasts are definitely worth including in your reading.

Like any forecast is it an estimation not a guarantee but you should definitely use them as part of your forecasting toolbox.

I always check the Intellicast and bounce it off the other forecasts.

Re: Predicting weather

windfinder for me and i like to look at live readings off bouye to align with what is forecasted, sometimes 200 miles north south or east can tell you at least a day in advance what it will look like .

Re: Predicting weather

www.Swellinfo.com is a great start, plus NWS Marine Forcast, and make sure you look at the entire GULF OF MEX! Watch wind direction swell direction! This time of year watch off Yucatan and carribean! Sounds crazy but I typically plan trips 3 days before! Yeah if your booking a charter I recommend (www.TexasBlueWaterSafaris.com) you have to obviously book a trip and pray for good weather ! But if you own your own boat, launch off the beach, or hunt the Jetties, then your gonna want to pay attention to the final 72hrs before your trip, this will give you a prediction window! Then pay close attention to the day of as you leave and look out 1,2,3 days depending on how long your gonna be offshore (overnight or multi night trip)! Pay attention to swell direction and wind direction! Swellinfo does a great job and is pretty accurate in my opinion! Also check out www.SkyVector.com GulfHelo tab play with that website! It's great and has updated Rig info and weather from observers on the rigs not a lot of people use this very important website!
