I agree with Chuck and I do the same method. I charge the shark while extending my gun fully out and looking as big as possible. You're in the ocean. Remember this, "Something is always trying to eat something else 24/7". Take the offensive not the defensive.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Late post, but here it is anyways. Went out solo out of Clearwater Pass to 30 fsw around 9:30am Sunday morning. Vis was top to bottom, soft current and temp was 67-68. Felt good not to wear a hood, water was comfortable. Best vis I've had in a little while. Very fishy, mixed bag of Hogs, Mangroves and Sheepshead. Beautiful day out.

Top to bottom vis in 40fsw out of Johns Pass on 4/7/14. Limited 20 nice hogs, big red grouper and a few sheepies.

That's not exactly ideal for those of us shooting the Freedive tournament out of Anclote.

Apples and Oranges but the Atlantic side off Daytona is nasty as far out as I can see.

Mud out to 50fsw. I'd give it a few days.

Second that, vis was about 5' in 45-50' depth yesterday off Clearwater. But the water is over 70 degrees which is nice

Atlantic crystal blue 1/2 mile offshore. That place bounces back quick.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

45 miles out of crystal River vis was close to 30' in 60fsw. Two large male hogs, couple of red grouper decent size, a few awesome size Grey triggers, could have limited out sheep if I felt like pulling the bands that much and of course some monster gags... like some of the largest I have personally seen... Just laughing at me.

Dropped down in 40fsw on the way back in to check a good mango spot and I couldn't see the end of the gun. Water 69 at 60' and 73 at 40'.

Check these out Phil!

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Jmorton, NICE! But yikes, 45 miles out? My wallet!

Viz seemed nice today off Clearwater - me and the wife out fishing so didn't get IN the water, but surface water temps were 72. Not a lot of h&l action at Rube Allyn, though.

May go out on Monday to the RJ and Pasco 1 and 2 sites.

I HATE the hood - thank the gods and goddesses I don't have to wear it anymore - beanie time (until next month - then I think I'll be diving in the buff - look out everyone!
