I was just discussing an order with the guys at Bluetec and it is no problem to have the trigger set back to 60-65mm.
I have relatively small hands and requested that specifically.
Anyone interested in such a gun can get in contact with them and ask about it.

Yes the new trigger will fit in any Bleutec gun. All you need to do is shave a bit in the back for the line release

Does anybody have experience with the Ulusub 155 RH? I was not aware until now that Jon made this model and it is very appealing. From the looks of it, it seems comparable to the Abellen Albacore 130. Better yet, has anyone handled and shot both?

Re: Thoughts on Abellan Albacore 130 vs Bleutec Oceanborn 125 & King Cobra

Aloha,

Thanks for your Consideration.

I don't post much about my own gun builds since I'm not a sponsor, but you could have a look at www.ulusub.com or Ulusub Spearfishing Co. on Facebook. Our Facebook page has more info and more pictures of guns. Our guns are always a little different in each batch.

It's just me in here so they are made to order. Right now I have 1 gun in stock. It's a 155MH which I finished as part of a batch last week. This is meant for California, WSB. Very nice.

63", 3 bands, 2pc 5/16" Threaded Shafts, Bluewater Reel with Line.

Regarding 155RH. That's the Carmina Delores Model. 155RH is a nice gun. Comes with a big Reel. I am just finishing a batch in here this week which are all sold, but I'll try to take some pics. I call this a Light Bluewater gun compared to the 170MH. But the 155RH is very versatile. I don't think many guns have been put through such extensive Field Testing. I opted for the 5/16" configuration with this gun because it's a nicer feel in the water, a lighter hand, and shoots with very little recoil, with good range. I intended the gun to be a Wahoo gun and also a good gun for things like AP, Muttons, Uku, etc swimming up off the reef, and it has been very adept at that. But a surprising number of Fat Yellowfin including several over 200lbs have been taken with this gun as well. In the end it's just a gun made by my hands. Just making each one to the best of my knowledge at the time. Not really sure when I'll make another batch, have some blanks hanging.

I am working on some new stuff too.

Re: Thoughts on Abellan Albacore 130 vs Bleutec Oceanborn 125 & King Cobra

All those guns you originally listed are great options. I have owned 2 and shot all 3. I currently have a King Cobra 130 and love it. Right now it is setup with a high capacity reel, 8mm shaft, slip tip and 2 bands, perfect for hopping and checking fads really quick. Had to do a couple small modifications but I do that with every gun I get to suit my needs.

What kind of new stuff are you working on? (If it's not a secret that is)
And what kind of lead time could I expect if I were to put in an order for one?

2. Comparing apples and Oranges. As stated above the Albacore 130 can only compare to a Oceanborn 145. Go shoot an Oceanborn 145 with the same setup and then you be the judge. Several guys here in Cali took their Albacores to shoot tuna and I still have not heard of one landing a descent fish. literarry hunderds of tunas were landed with the OB 145 by 3-4 guys I know shooting the OB 145.

3. I can give you a list of several guys that compared 2 guns and owned the 2 guns and are now using the OB. So as you can see it depends on who you are talking to.

I have customers that love their Abellans and I have customers that love their OB.
Thanks for the updated info and perspective, Petros. Good to know:-)

Re: Thoughts on Abellan Albacore 130 vs Bleutec Oceanborn 125 & King Cobra

I just realized that the King Cobra is a Bleutec gun ... I had thought it was an Aimrite for some reason. I always wondered why the OB guns went from 125 to 145 ... it would seem a 135 would be a nice size. At 130cm that would be an interesting gun ... but again something needs to be done about the handle as for 99% of the people, they will be reaching for the trigger. When you reach for the trigger, the recoil will go straight into your thumb and with a powerful gun you quickly lose control. So if you can change that from the factory, that would certainly be a huge improvement. I do think that all Bleutec guns are not setup properly and you can quickly get a large improvement in performance by just switching out the bands to small ID bands. Other than the handle, the gun is really nice. I am always surprised at how accurate the trigger to shaft seating is ... for a pinned trigger this is always a problem, but on the Bleutec guns I never have seen a shaft fit where it has too much overhead. This is one of the reasons the gun is very accurate. The King Cobra with 3 x 15mm bands and an 8.5mm shaft would be a very interesting gun to try out.
