Any pics of the huge triggerfish?

I saw in the winners list some triggers that weighed 9 and 10 lbs. I've never seen one anywhere near that size. Anyone have any pics to post so we can see these brutes?

I am not sure how much this one weighed but Team Get'em brought this one to the scale.

Whatever it weighs, it's a nice trig.

Was that caught fishing AJ? I note the trigger spear still intact. First thing I do when I'm stringin' the bastards is to break off that spear before they impale me with it. He IS a monster. Look at the nuts on him! Bet he could remove 2 fingers with one bite.

I break them over, too.

That is a hoss! If I see one that big, no question it's getting shot.

Re: Any pics of the huge triggerfish?

I have learned to string them through the mouth, as once I shot a big ocean trigger and it bit me on the belly button. I screamed like a girl underwater! Those are good sized grey triggers, though. Steve.

Re: Any pics of the huge triggerfish?

Dang! Them boys get big everything up there!

As I was reading about the rigs in the Florida Gulf controversy today it came to mind that Rigs might not work as good here as they do there. Arent those rigs often in 600' of water and in the Gulfstream? Here I think that you would have to get about 200 miles offshore to get into similar conditions. With that in mind, in shallow water like we have here, would a rig be an advantage over a wreck in some way? I can see where a wreck in 600' might not do much good.

Well, maybe the Helldivers would do it, but not me.

Re: Any pics of the huge triggerfish?

WE have nice rigs in all depths. Some of my favorite ARS hunting is done on rigs in 60-100 ft of water. Great cobia on the shallow ones. The advantage over a wreck from a fishes point of view is the ability to use the entire water column without leaving the structure. From a hunting POV, its a hell of alot easier to dive up and down that rig leg than it is to bomb a wreck you hope youre still on top of! Rig legs also give you something to hide behind in big time currents....but they make it hard to have any secret spots

Re: Any pics of the huge triggerfish?

Ok, this might not be fair, but these that we shot in Panama would eat all of the previously shown triggers for breakfast... They were like car tires. We would shoot them when the action on the reef slowed down. Shot several over 15#

Re: Any pics of the huge triggerfish?

Now, that's a stringer to be happy about! I love eating trigger, mighty tasty fish. Hope I see some big ones this summer, after all the small ones of the last few months.
