Newbie Freediving Advice
I'm planning on taking the FII 1 course next summer around Fort Lauderdale and I have some questions.
First off, are there any recommended instructors? Is there a major difference between instructors? Should I buy a full set of free dive gear for the class? The FAQs say I can take some classes with snorkel gear, but should I? Do I miss out on anything in the class by not doing so? I would currently go in with Aqualung Blades 2 (long fin for scuba, but short for free dive), scuba mask, ScubaPro Meridian computer (with free dive mode), rash guard and a 1.5mm shortie. |

Re: Newbie Freediving Advice
Any freediving course you take with any of the instructors out there be it an FII or PFI will be a great start to your freediving and you will learn a lot about how to do so safely.
I run an entry level 3 day PFI Freediving class, year round in Fort Lauderdale through my company www.Immersionfreediving.com My course has 7 hours of classroom, a hour one on one Skype session before class to make sure you a properly equalizing using frenzel, 2 three hour pool sessions, and 2 three hour ocean sessions on my own boat. For new people proper equalizing is very important. With out proper use of frenzel many students will be unable to equalize past 15-30 ft when going head down. Many entry level courses have only one pool session and only one ocean session, and much less classroom time. You can find more information about my 3 day entry level course @ http://immersionfreediving.com/class...alf-day-class/ You can see my course schedule @ http://immersionfreediving.com/class...urse-schedule/ You can see what other spear board members have said about my program by checking out this thread @ http://www.spearboard.com/showthread.php?t=139481 If you are interested in what goes on in my classes here are two most recent videos. If you are serious enough about freediving to take a freediving class I would suggest buying freediving fins. If you take a course with me I have rental freediving gear you can try things out to see if you like it. As a someone who is new to the sport of freediving any class through a recognized agency will help you bypass the learning curve and get you on you way. Good luck. Re: Newbie Freediving Advice
Didn't anticipate your classes being filled up for the year. How soon in advance do people register Ted?
Anyone else care to comment about their free diving instructors? |

Re: Newbie Freediving Advice
My 3 day courses sell out really fast, every one of those has sold out months in advance for the entire year.
I still have spots left for the 4 day Intermediate class. If you look on the schedule @ http://immersionfreediving.com/class...urse-schedule/ you can see how many spots are left in each course. I run 2-3 courses a month year round in Fort Lauderdale. I will be adding new dates for the 3 day program in coming weeks. To be notified via email when I add new courses sign up for the newsletter @ www.Immersionfreediving.com/newsletter Newsletter subscribers also get the columns I write for spearing magazine emailed to them with the newsletter.
