Thanks MAKO! My First Nationals
Recently, Scott (Muay Thai) and Andrew (who is not on Spearboard) asked me to fill in for their third team member who was required to drop out of the tournament with short notice. I’ve dove with both these guys many times, so I hope they know what they got themselves into by inviting me.
I’m excited about the opportunity and also wanted to take a moment to say “THANKS” to Dano at MAKO Spearguns for offering to generously support the team. This year the competition is being held in freshwater in Arkansas (a state I’ve not yet visited). Both Scott and Andrew have competed in freshwater before and also have a pretty long history of being serious competitors in prior National Comps. Scott and Andrew were past National Champs and World Team members and Andrew was USOA Diver of the year in 2002. Both these guys are much better hunters and divers than me. I’m hoping that the relatively shallow diving and an abundance of fish will allow me to not fall too ridiculously far behind. Some people may find this link interesting. http://www.midwestdivingcouncil.org/...Nationals.html Here are some links to recent threads about the comp: http://spearboard.com/showthread.php?t=107802 http://spearboard.com/showthread.php?t=93624 If anyone has any secrets about shooting carp, I’m all ears.

I am glad Scott and Andrew were able to pick you up. I wish I could have dove with them again this year... I am happy to help you, Scott, and Andrew out any way I can. Good luck to you three.

Re: Thanks MAKO! My First Nationals
Jim,
I'm confident you'll do fine! Hell, in shallow, dirty, water you may end up kicking me and Andrew's asses. In a tournament like that were dive ability is pretty much taken out of the equation, it truly is anybody's game. All you need to do is be able to shoot fish quickly & efficiently and I know for a fact you're capable of that. I'd like to thank Mako too. I've got 70cm and 90cm guns on the way and can't wait for their arrival. Had an awesome day last weekend up in Sebastian but all that shooting with an RA left my chest bleeding - with a cocking pad on my suit!!! No way would I want to attempt a 50 fish limit in a 5 hour period with a gun like that so, the only guns coming to AR with me are my Mako's! Scott |

Re: Thanks MAKO! My First Nationals
Hi Jim,
I was just in spearfishing in Arkansas last week--shot some nice stripers. I moved from West Palm Beach to Arkansas in 1999. I've been trying to get back ever since. Good Luck, Aaron |

Thanks Aaron!
Welcome to the board. I still remember you having to retreive my stuck shaft in 60 feet. It doesn't seem that long ago.
