Re: Recycling's dirty secret

We recycle here but not like in the city.Waste food goes to the chickens,Food a chicken will not eat(not much they wont)gets thrown in the compost bin.Paper is saved for the fire pit.
Tires and plastics are saved to burn on Earth Day

Re: Recycling's dirty secret

I've never recycled due to research I've read detailing all the energy/waste that goes into building the machinery/infrastructure/resources that's required to get the trash thru the recycling process. It does not make sense.
I also don't waste food, re-use as much as possible, and don't buy dumb stuff like bottled water.

Re: Recycling's dirty secret

Trying to wean the wife off bottled water.I have filtered water in the house. The water is not any better.Just more money and waste at a dump.
I walked my kids new property(7 acres with a 3/1 house and a barn) he just bought.Found where the old timers used to dump their garbage off the side of the hill next to the trout stream.
He is planning on raising his own vegetables as well as pork and beef.Found a 4 point deer shed and lots of game trails going through the property.Nothing will be wasted with chicken and pigs.

Re: Recycling's dirty secret

I do not know much about recycling cost and efficiencies other than I know it is VERY efficient to recycle aluminum due to the energy used to produce virgin. As for the other stuff, I have no idea, Paper probably makes sense, at least I would think for making boxes????

Re: Recycling's dirty secret

Now that China and east Asian countries are no longer buying our recycled garbage most programs in the US are disappearing. It was a sham from the beginning. We bury and or burn 99.9% of our garbage in the US.

Yea, I know the savings on clean water alone with Aluminum is substantial.

Pretty much goes along with every other sham imposed by leftists from the beginning of time....

it all falls apart eventually and they are left scrambling for a new religion...

Re: Recycling's dirty secret

Recycling aluminum makes sense, but not much else does. Recycling is more about the "green dream" than a net benefit to society. Like so many utopian environmentalist fantasies, it just doesn't pencil out.

Some people just found a dead whale loaded with plasticsI know you are being sarcastic but some people have no issues dumping garbage in a stream or an ocean.
Yesterday I walked the survey lines on my kids 7 acres he just bought.Sickening to see the plastic water bottles, beer cans and skoal cans along a trout stream. We will have a family clean up day and burn everything that will break down.
When we are in floriduh running offshore for dolphin we usually find them under someones trash.
I would rather have plastics burned than dissolving in the oceans or at a landfill for 20 years.
