Rob Allen 140

so for all you guys out there with Rob Allens's I just got my 140cm.biggest RA to date, I order hammerhead muzzle for it. Would it be better to use 1 20mm rubbers for it, or go with the 2 16mm rubbers. My 130cm has two 16mm rubbers, would the 20mm be enough. I've been working out extra hard just to be able to pull these bands. i got 4ft of the 20 mm, would that be too long or short? I just like to know who's got the one banded set up.

I have 2 16mm on it. I think you get better power and range with 2 16mm vs 1 20mm, don't cut them too short, even go 1 inch or two over recommeded band length and you'll have a smoother, more accurate shot.

My friend Jorge uses one 20mm with it, but he is a 200+ pound gorilla, its actually faster to load with the single band, and it does shoots acurate, he barely misses a shot.
For the mere mortals like us, we are glad they have twin 16mm.

Re: Rob Allen 140

I have a single 20mm band on mine. Load it with no problem, but I guess I am a 200+ pound gorilla too. I only have 1 wrap on the gun though. For 2 wraps or a heavier shaft I would go with 2x16mm bands without a doubt.

Re: Rob Allen 140

My 2¢

6.6 mm shaft (1.8 mm mono max, 1.6 ideal) - 16 mm regular single band or, better yet, 18 mm or H. Dessault's 16 mm (both hard to find in the US).
7 mm shaft (2 mm mono max, 1.8 ideal) - 20 mm single band (actually it's 3/4").
7.5 mm shaft (2 mm mono or 1.3 mm cable) - 2 x 16 mm bands.

The regular factory lengths work just fine. Personally, I think two wraps are inocuous as the precision is just not there. If you need more line, you actually need a longer gun.

Re: Rob Allen 140

I'm not sure the hammerhead muzzles will accept a 3/4"(20mm) band. Might want to check that out first.

Re: Rob Allen 140

well the only shafts that flfreedivers had left for the old green handle for this gun was 6.6mm so it's a skinny shafts compare to my 130 which i use a 7mm and 7.5 mm. If the hammerhead doesn't fit, i'll try to lube it like crazy, for 50 bucks that thing better fit. So I'll guess i'll try the 20mm bands first at 4ft in length, if it's not powerful enough, that is if i can load first. I'll keep going shorter until i find the magic spot.

Re: Rob Allen 140

Actually, in a gun that long, I think you will find that it shoots better and just as far with a single, shorter 16mm band than a 20mm band. ESPECIALLY with a 7mm shaft or smaller. I shot two big grouper yesterday with a single 16mm band on a 130cm gun and 7mm shaft.

Re: Rob Allen 140

well i would buy the new shafts but at 45-50 bucks a pop, i got a good deal on the 6.6 mm so i will use those for now. My 130 is always still deadly accurate.
