Your Boat
Post pics of your boat, kayak, paddle board etc. and give a little info on how its rigged for diving/fishing.Ive lurked here about a year but just started posting so hello to all!My boat is a 07 Carolina Skiff 21 DLV with 140 Suzuki 4 stroke.Minn Kota riptide 80# thrust remote troller, dive platform,Lowrance LCX fishfinder/gps/map,uniden vhf,JBL CD/AM/FM radio,15 gal.LED lit livewell,Taco leaning post,SS BBQ grill,40 gal fuel,Bimini, and a float on aluminum trailer.Cheap on fuel and lots of space!I shoot a 20 yr old 48 Biller speargun that is soon to get a reel.Nothing fancy but it gets me to the fish and back in relative comfort. Also have a Old Town Canoe for running the local rivers for trout.

Re: Your Boat
I love the Whaler type hulls.A little bouncy in rough stuff going fast but Im usually not in a hurry.I had a 13 Whaler with a 50 Mercury that we fished/speared/camped out of in my younger years.

"Sweet Tooth" 1993 Tiara 3600 Open, Twin 375hp 3208 Caterpillar diesels.
Much more comfortable to fish or dive off of, but those Cats are some thirsty little bitches! |

Re: Your Boat
I rock a 10 ft inflatable off my Catalina 34 sailboat. Excellent for overnight stays at Santa Cruz Island, but not that useful for daytrips.

Re: Your Boat
One of the best riding boats I've been in, for it's size, was a 21' whaler outrage. The more we loaded it down, the better it took the waves.

Re: Your Boat
My CarolinaSkiff 21 DLV does pretty good since its not like the older Whaler designs. We got caught off KW in a storm and just cruised in at 20mph without getting pounded. She runs in less than a foot of water. We ran KW to Marquesas to spearfish and lobster and burned only 13 gallons of fuel!Im starting to love 4 strokes.

Re: Your Boat
My buddy had a 44 Searay with twin turbo diesels.Great for several day trips but KW charged $175 a night just to dock!I run a vegetable oil blend in my F-350 Dually when I can get oil.20 gal oil,5gal kerosene,1gal gas,one cup Diesel Kleen cetane booster.Filtered through 2 house filters and a big racor fuel/water seperator and the 7.3 gets right around 20 mpg!Newer motors dont do well on it but 2002 and older eat it up!Smells like BBQ or Chinese depending on the restaurant!Cost with filters figured in is right at a buck a gallon.
