Add tint to mask?

For clearwater and wary fish, i hear that mirrors are good (yes?).

I was thinking about putting some of the mirror tint on my mask. The kind that is used in car windows- or is there a better kind?

Anyone ever do this?
Thanks!

Car tint won't work. Been there, done that.

It's reverse, so you'll see your own eyes in the reflection.

It'll also leave a residue that'll take forever to remove and get back to normal.

In my experience it's better to take away from the fish focussing on your eyes. A Bright red lipstick could do the trick. Pink works as well. Guys down in Panama swear by it.

Are you being serious?!
Very interesting. More of a distraction, rather than cover up.
Why red?
Perhaps add some red to the neck weight or snorkel. I have limited experience with lipstick!
Thanks, as always.

Yep. The brighter the better. They might only come in a foot or two closer, but that can make a difference. Eyeshadow is another good trick. It helps to blend the eyes into the rest of your face. Pete says Silver Eyeshadow and Red Lipstick is the best combination. I think it would go well with your complexion as well.

Don`t forget to put a decent ammount of rouge on your cheeks, that really freak them out

Re: Add tint to mask?

The Red Lipstick is a known trick for Mu and other Snapper. Pete says he thinks the Silver Eyeshadow makes him look less menacing in the water and allows him to get just one foot closer. If you look closely at this photo he sent me yesterday, you can see their lipstick and eyeshadow, though it was worn off a bit by the end of the struggle.

I would go with not so serious, but hey, you'll only know for sure if you try it . Be sure to let us know how it works! And of course, don't forget the selfies!

Re: Add tint to mask?

I see Behslayer posts quite often and he seems pretty knowledgeable so I tend to take him serious. I can't attest to any makeup myself, but I wear an amber lense mask. I was told it hides my eyes. I feel like it also helps on those crappy low visibility days in filtering out some of the particles in the water.

Not on bottom fish and sucks deep or in bad vis.

Not acting aggressive is the most important aspect of stalking.

Camo, tinted lenses etc... are bout useless.

Re: Add tint to mask?

This just in. Panama crew are reporting that the fish are liking the Pink lipstick more this year and a more golden/amber Eyeshadow. So pack accordingly. However. If you will be Feral camping out at Montuosa with a bunch of Cachaca swilling dudes for days on end, it has been recommended to remove both lipstick and eyeshadow at the end of the day after diving.
