Re: Rob Allen knot.
Slip knot is the best. All I use.

Re: Rob Allen knot.
It’s all I use on all my reel guns. I don’t like extra components that can fail or scratch my guns. It’s never failed me yet.

Re: Rob Allen knot.
That's awesome. Also the tip about hooking the line from the reel on the release one more time to make a lower profile line route and ability to adjust tension better. Thanks for the video Rob!

Re: Rob Allen knot.
I just switched from metal hardware to this knot, I like the simplicity.

Re: Rob Allen knot.
I'm going to have to give this slip knot a try on a setup of mines. It seems like it would also help with some minor issues I'm getting towards my line guide/wrap at the muzzle.

Re: Rob Allen knot.
This knot works great. I've used it for the last three years. Addend benefit; no more holes in your gloves from the sharp ends on those pigtail "quick" disconnects! Never had the knot fail.

Dean, means a lot coming from you since we dive the same kinda conditions. I spearfish, New Jersey and Rhode Island mostly. I was concerned about bass thrashing it around and opening it up against the rocks on the reefs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Rob Allen knot.
I have yet to have that happen. Dave Hochman is the one who turned me onto it. He's been using for years and swears by it.

Re: Rob Allen knot.
I use the slip knot with an 8 knot in the tip. The added benefit is that it is easier to open when wearing gloves.

Re: Rob Allen knot.
I have found when untangling loose line that it seems to invent all sorts of knots as the loops inter-splice with each other, some defy undoing without pliers! Must be some good knots there, ditto for pulling apart thin computer and charger cables that have inter-tangled.

Re: Rob Allen knot.
Any knot or lump on the tag end will make it easier to undo but, this is something that can now hook up and pull the loop out, for example when being dragged over a reef.
I saw this happen when a shot fish ended up on the shooting line (spear passed through) and a large groper took the fish and ran off with it. The trailing spear was on the reef and, as the groper ran, the barb hooked into the reef causing the groper to run down the line. As the knot with a burnt lump on the tag end, passed through his mouth the knot was undone. In this case it worked out for the best as the spear was easier to recover.
